Lamar lost his way and his soul once he left the Lakers. Getting traded away from the Lakers started the nosedive says Stephen A

Brah, if you ain't buusy living

    You're busy dying.

And if you go thru life without pushing the limits,

    Without a little drug problem,

Just judging others on message boards,

    Then you're busy dying.

Ron Artest worked nicely, helped get us out of the first round and turned his image around.

Sean Deveney of Sporting News passed along a statement from an unnamed NBA general manager discussing Lamar Odom's NBA future:

I would say he is beyond toxic at this point. Just going by what he is giving you on the court, he would have been a risk anyway, maybe someone you give a partial guarantee to just to see if he can turn things around. But with the circus that’s around him off the court now, no way. I think that’s the end of Lamar Odom in the NBA. It’s a shame.

The L.A. Lakers told Lamar Odom that if he goes to rehab immediately and kicks his prescription drug habit, they'll save him a spot on the team.

Lakers manager Mitch Kupchak reached out to Odom's agent Jeff Schwartz to say the team and its owners consider Odom to be part of the family, Radar Online reported. They want Odom, who won two-time championships with the Lakers, to be the team's sixth man.

“Lamar is really resisting rehab, even with the Lakers' offer on the table. He doesn't want to miss training camp. Lamar thinks he can kick this on his own,” an insider told the gossip site.

sometimes it's more about money. despite being paid a lot to be a basketball player, his life has been crazy. his dad a heroin addict and his mom died early. then recently his grandma died, son died, and I believe a cousin

He needs to go straight to rehab now that he has been picked up for DUI, if he ever wants a shot again. If he beats it, he can explain his loss of production from the past two years as drug related, and perhaps a team gives him a shot if he is completely clean, thinking he can get back close to his pre-drug level.

    http://tracking.si.com/2013/09/03/lamar-odom-cocaine-drugs-purchase-dealer-clippers-nba/?sct=hp_t2_a2&eref=sihp

A man claiming to be Lamar Odom’s New York drug dealer gave an interview with Radar in which he details the cocaine habits of the basketball star who had been reported missing and on a drug binge in recent weeks.

According to the interview posted Tuesday, the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he sold $16,000 worth of cocaine to Odom while the Queens native was in New York in February. Odom, who played for the Los Angeles Clippers last season, was in New York on Feb. 10 for a game against the New York Knicks, or it’s possible he could have made the alleged purchase approximately a week later because of his time off during the All-Star break.

The man claiming to be his dealer said he has known Odom for three years and during that time has witnessed Odom “high” on cocaine approximately 10 times, adding that he personally witnessed Odom smoke the drug. In the interview, the man said Odom is a “nice guy” but has a “huge problem” because of his “addictive personality.”

Odom was arrested on charges of driving under the influence in Los Angeles last week shortly after his agent had refuted reports that his client was missing. ESPN cited a source last week saying the two-time NBA champion was at a Los Angeles hotel with friends as they attempted to help him with an alleged drug problem. Los Angeles prosecutors issued a statement earlier in August that said they would not file battery and grand theft charges against Odom for an incident this summer involving a photographer.

The 33-year-old is currently a free agent after stints with the Clippers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. Radar cited a source with knowledge of the situation who said that Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak told Odom’s agent that the team would offer him a roster spot for next season if he went to rehab.

I hope they can confirm that ****; that seems like a slander suit waiting to happen. Without projecting too much, I'm genuinely curious if a drug dealer would consider a news story worth jeopardizing their connection or potential referrals; or if a publication like Radar could rationalize paying them enough to incentivize it.
