I usually wait a while until I get slightly bored with my phone to root/flash to CM. It makes it feel like a brand new phone at that point, thus halving the itch to buy a new gadget. This is the only way phones last me longer than a year.
Has anyone had any luck getting the chromecast from bestbuy.com recently? Its been showing "sold out online" for quite some time.
I bought one on Monday and another one yesterday from Bestbuy.com. You just have to look for it or wait for someone to mention something from this thread.
Did you forget to choose the free Expedited shipping? I bought Monday too and it shipped Tuesday. It comes in today for me.
I was wrong. It shipped Tuesday as well but says I won't get it till Saturday yet UPS says it's in Houston already
UPS doesn't deliver on weekends so that means you won't get it until Monday? This is what UPS tracker says for me: Scheduled Delivery: Thursday, 08/29/2013, By End of Day
I swear I hit refresh on the BB website 5-10 times a day, and nothing. Always out of stock and I only need one! Of course the biggest TV in the house is in the den, we watch it the most and it's the only one that's not a smart TV. So unwar.
Chromecast will serve many needs but for now it's only good for netlfix/youtube streaming. My main need was to watch Youtube videos on TV. Since I have a PS3, you can use their integrated Youtube app and pair it up with your phone or tablet without getting a chromecast device. It seems alot of people don't know this. Like some others said, this product just sounds OK for now. I heard chromecast can't cast web streaming well and it can't cast local content like mp3 or videos on your phone. I will wait a little later until chromcast improves and then buy one.
I just picked one up at the Fairmont Parkway store in Pasadena. They have a bunch at that location (15-20). I almost bought two.
Hmm, I've never had them do that. I ordered some batteries the other day on Amazon and it came in a small 5x6 bubble envelope and UPS delivered it to my door. If you have Netflix, the real cost is only $12 or so. Who knows how long that Netflix offer will last. So I went ahead and got it since it's definitely worth that much even with current functionality. The other stuff is definitely planned and will come.
Can you get closed caption on Netflix with it? Do you get 5:1 surround sound if you you plug the HDMI though your AVR? Edit* maybe yes maybe no http://www.googletvforum.org/forum/google-chromecast/8221-chromecast-tips.html#cctip20tip1
Sorry, I didn't answer because I don't know. I just have my ChromeCast plugged in directly into the my TV. Audio sounds good but I can't comment on the specs.
Look at the link I posted. Netflix broadcasts whatever audio signal that is on the original source. A lot is just stereo, some is 5:1 and some is dolbly digital +.
Going to try to get one tomorrow. Some manager told me last week they should be getting fifteen in tonight and to try in the morning when they open. That's when they'll stock them.
