Does the NCAA really suspend people for half-games? That just seems odd.

So he's being suspended a half for signing autographs? Ha! What a joke.

Manziel 1st half suspension "closes the book" on Manziel/autograph saga. NCAA acknowledges Manziel did not accept money, source said

That'd be great. Take away any dark looming clouds. But it would kind of be weird considering other athletes signed autographs that wound up for sale. And that isn't even a violation. Seems weird in the end.

It sort of is a violation:

Title:12.5.2.2 - Use of a Student-Athlete's Name or Picture Without Knowledge or Permission.

If a student-athlete's name or picture appears on commercial items (e.g., T-shirts, sweatshirts, serving trays, playing cards, posters) or is used to promote a commercial product sold by an individual or agency without the student-athlete's knowledge or permission, the student-athlete (or the institution acting on behalf of the student-athlete) is required to take steps to stop such an activity in order to retain his or her eligibility for intercollegiate athletics. Such steps are not required in cases in which a student-athlete's photograph is sold by an individual or agency (e.g., private photographer, news agency) for private use.

If he argued that he didn't know they were going to be sold when he signed them, then he would be in violation of this rule if he didn't try to stop them from being sold when he did find out.

Gotcha. So no hard evidence on Clowney I guess. Good resolution in all. I have a buddy I bet Manziel would get suspended with and he's trying to back out of paying.

It definitely sets a precedent and I could honestly see guys like Clowney and Bridgewater getting similar suspensions since they had just as much memorabilia out there.

Of course none of them admitted that they actually signed them and that they are legit like Manziel may have done in his interview

Yeah - if this really is the resolution, then it seems if you just interviewed those guys, they'd have to argue the same thing, and they should get the same suspensions. Still seems weird to me that the NCAA would suspend anyone for a half a game, though.

I think I've seen half long suspensions before but not sure if it was the team or NCAA that leveled it.

I think the NCAA acknowledged that they could not prove he accepted money, they did not confirm his innocence.

Interesting question, normally Manziel would be resting by the 4th, now he'll probably be playing.

I am glad because I wanted to see him play, but the whole thing is a big joke. Half a game, really?!

RSJ, LaRue, etc etc...pick your poison. The WRs have size and speed.

As for the OL...only the center is under 300 pounds, and he's 285.

Evans (a freshman last year) disagrees.

Evans was a redshirt freshman, unlike the guys you mentioned...
