Tinman don't listen to these girls. The idea that McGrady is great is insulting to me. He quit in the middle of game. You just don't do that. I can forgive Kermit Washington faster than I can Stacy McGrady. You get paid millions and there are people in 3rd world countries working harder than he is who can barely feed their children. He could have a least pretended that he was playing, it would show some kind of social conscious on the court. Good for Tinman for having a strong opinion and not bowing down to you weaklings.

"Let it go" "Your too old to post about this" Blah blah blah. You all are doing the same thing one way or another. Oh no! Your post are above this type of stuff. So now the self righteous are coming out to defend a quitter.

As I'm teaching my son to play different sports, I will show him the video of McGrady quitting as an example of how not to act. I will then show him Dan Beebe tackling Leon Left in the Super Bowl while Dan's team was down by so many points that there was no chance of catching up. Stuff your genetic abilities up your a** She Mac because your mind and soul are nothing to be proud of on the court.

The ironic thing is the only person that talks about tmac now a days in the garm is tinman... Most fans have forgotten his tenure long ago because he didn't win ****. So good job tinman keeping tmacs legacy alive

Look, I understand Tinman's opinion is not exactly unbiased one, but some of y'all act like T-mac didn't have issues which, by the team he was traded, led most of us to look upon him unfavorably.

Should we forget that he decided to have knee surgery, which at the time many said was un-needed, to reduce his trade value enough to become untradable? Should we forget that this choice, in essence, robbed him of what athleticism he had left? Should we forget how he quit on the team?

With that said, I firmly believe that time heals all wounds & it is great to look back on the 13 in 33 (I still remember where I was when it was happening) & the many other GREAT things he did as a Rocket. He will be a Hall of Famer one day & I will cheer for him when he is inducted. But let's not act like Tinman is completely wrong, or that T-mac never had any issues.

I think we can all agree that it sucks to look back on those Yao/T-mac teams & realize how little actually came from so much promise.

No one is questioning any of this.

These are things we all know.

But Tinman has become a one trick "donkey" with his Tmac hate. It is tiring. Any other poster would be cited for trolling, yet Tinman continues his tireless TMac hate campaign.

I really just want him to move on. Tracy retired this week but he left Houston how many years ago?

Get a f***ing life Tinman, please.

How come you don't talk so much about other players? I mean I realize T-Mac is a polarizing figure and part of Houston Rockets history but you have taken it upon yourself to be the President of the Anti-Tracy McGrady fan club. You created this thread under the cloak of a "great article" but we all know that you are just here to keep trotting out your tired agenda that T-Mac was poison to this franchise. We get it..we got it a looooong time ago...just keep providing youtube links to the Championship era and you will be okay. Seriously, you're the epitome of a broken record. Sheesh!

    I agree.

Clutch's excellent article is also a microcosm of that entire season.

KD's article is also a perspective from today, 4 years and brand new contending team later.

Times change. In the end, we must not get hung up on one moment versus the entire story.

No way I can vote for this one. While Hardisty's use of words embodied a feeling that united almost all of us on this site, it can't beat the excitement I felt while reading the words of our great, Shiram "The_YoYo" Bhat.

    http://rockets.clutchfans.net/4212/fan-tracks-rockets-dwight-howard-caravan/

Basically, it's about love for me, not hate. It's about Mario Elie hitting that corner three to drive a steak in the heart of Charles Barkley's Suns, not Malone bear hugging Clyde. It's 4 miraculously missed free throws followed by a Kenny Smith 3 and 13 points in 35 seconds that I love, not the 40 point game 7 loss in Dallas. It's Yao playing hero and hitting bucket after bucket to win game one, not the eventual series loss. It's about getting Dwight Howard and The Beard and signing Jeremy Lin from the SchKnicks and Omer and pulling a needle out of the second round with Parsons, not sticking it to quitters like McGrady and Pippen. Mad Max was the best Jordan defender to ever play the game, so what if he went mental on us. We don't truly know what that was about. We do know what we saw. We've seen greatness... from a lot of players. I have no love for McGrady and he has no love for the people that watched him, just let him live out his lonely life and cheer on these positive characters that have us dreaming championship again. Go Rox!

Time to start focusing on the near future. These guys are going to special. No doubt. These guys are going to provide memories, no doubt. Let's enjoy the ride this summer and just be glad we don't have 6'8" distractions. Game 1, Oct. 30th.

The story is factual . Certain members of this board prefer to tell a different story where the main character is never responsible for any of his actions.

The writer of this article tells the true story. One where the main character is smart and does everything with a purpose.
A story where the character puts himself higher than his comrades and employer. A story that shows you are responsible for your actions.

Whats so strange about AluminumfoilMan is his complete disregard in remembering how the Rockets chucked Vernon Maxwell off the team after he refused to play during the playoffs. Vernon Actually did QUIT. He flat out refused to play, and got sent home...during the playoffs. Let me restate this. Vernon Maxwell ADMITTED to faking an injury to hurt his teams chances in the playoffs. This in a year that he charged the stands to smash a fan in the face and then lied about the reason. Never was it proven, not one fan, not one person sided with Maxwell about what that fan supposedly said.

Not to mention Maxwell was a nasty person in general, and destroyed a young ladies life by knowingly infecting her with herpes. 24 hours before he lost the court battle (he knew he was going to lose) he filed bankruptcy in order to not have to pay damages. He signed a 5 million dollar contract in 2000 and promptly didn't pay a dime in child support less than a year later. He kidnapped a young woman, imprisoned her in her home and beat her for trying to escape.

Lets go on about AluminumFoilMans favorite player. Vernon promised the late Jim Valvano he would sign with NC State. Vernon went partying with some UF football players and decided to play for Florida. This is amusing because Vernon during March Madness was warned that there would be a drug test before the tourney. He decided to smoke anyhow, and got busted. Maxwell was the career Gator points leader when he left, only to have his last two years erased after it was learned Vernon accepted money from a sports agent.

Through all that Tinny decides you as Rockets fans are not "true" Rockets fan if you cheered or even enjoyed Tmac the player or his years, because he was in fact a quitter. Yet somehow he doesn't remember Vernon's transgression. Pippen was the "worst Rocket" ever because he b****ed after his one year and got traded. Leading to the name "Quitten" yet what is Vernon Maxwell to Tinny?

Oh and tinny....real Rockets fans want to know....did the Rockets franchise originate in Houston....oh yeah that's right, you didn't know that the answer was NO.

    LOL

I wish you would focus your negativity on Karl Malone and John Stockton, if you are going to dwell on the past so much.

Your boring attempt to lure me in a debate about maxwell is futile.

See I'm at peace with Maxwells entire story and I know he's had closure with his teammates.

You can waste your time on this thread . I know you are on this thread because of me.
So is sweet lou 42. However there's a difference. He's a better poster.

    So enjoy.

I get what your saying man. Just like you I hated the Malone/Stockton combo more than any sports persons ever. Unlike Tinny, I hated what Vernon Maxwell had done as a player in quitting on the team, admitting to faking an injury, and all the other crappy things he did to ruin himself as a player/person/representative of the Houston Rockets. But outside of doing this to make Tinny look like the hypocrite tool that he is, I never chastise any Rockets fan for cheering any rockets player. THAT is being a fan. Its kind of why I feel so angry when "fans" decide they want a player like Lin to fail. I don't mind it so much if you don't like his style of game, or what not, but to want a Rocket to fail is the epitome of being a NON FAN.

No one would care if Tinny wanted to voice his love of the Rockets or remember the good old days, or even quote his belief that Vernon was a saint. Its old listening to him constantly go on with the same stuff over and over, cramming his crap down our throats. I mean 15 years of it is enough already.
