What race do you think easily gets their feelings hurt when negative aspects of them are discussed?

Probably the race that is often accused of being criminals or dumb or poor. Such nice stereotypes to have and such stereotypes that one should just ignore.

While stereotypes are not always true, they don't come out of nowhere. But certain people just refuse to change their image, even if advised by the intelligent ones of their kind.

Has little to do with the thread. Not even sure who some of these 'intelligent' ones are and what is this great advice they have that applies to everyone.

If you call a group of people criminals, stupid, or poor what response do you expect to come of it? When these are the usual stereotypes thrown around at black people (because we know that is what this thread is about, no reason to try and hide it.) that response is expected isn't it?

Why do you think they are hit with these stereotypes?

"People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around" - Bill Cosby

"They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk….You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.” - Bill Cosby

If you want to say black people are hit with those stereotypes because they are true just get it off your chest. No reason to beat around the bush with it.

also that has nothing to do with black people. If you want to attribute every negative thing you think of to black people you can find then that's on you. We can pretend like only black people talk that way when it has more to do with music. Most of the people that Bill is talking about aren't trying to become doctors any ways...and Cosby has always disliked hip hop culture (which is more than just a 'black' thing any ways)

    Why Stereotypes are bad ^^^

From a person who is likely more 'intelligent' than Bill Cosby.

Black. And I'm black. People, no matter race/sex/income should use whatever negativity as motivation to overcome. Success is the ultimate answer to hatred.

It's not a question of race, it's social structure.

Implying that a particular race is somehow subordinate will cause the more the "omega" types to get their feelings hurt, and the "alpha" types to consider punching you in the face. It's as race specific as gender, or appendage count. I use those alpha/beta type terms because they are common, but dominance hierarchy is typical of nearly all mammals.

There is still an air of condescension ingrained in the behavior/beliefs many cultures in the world. Coincidentally, in areas between west Texas and the Carolinas, it's know to have a relatively large amount people clinging to their ancestors myths about the African race. The kind of behavior that was ingrained in the regions culture, and many humans aren't capable and/or willing to form ideas beyond the influence of biases instilled in them during formative years.

People who aren't rational about a situation, are doomed to be instinctual. Ignorant. There is no hierarchy within race, so when someone flashes unacceptable implications of dominance towards a particular race, social status, etc..... SUPRISE! You piss off a high percentage of said group who are willing to challenge that viewpoint.

Understanding simple human nature. We share the instincts of any mammal, but what separates us is reason. The ability to stop and realize, "I'm not thinking, I'm just instinctively competing." F**king use it.

White middle class males between 18-40 are never pitied, and thus we are the least respected.

And the one that has no traceable heritage, thanks to both the logistics and of human livestock trading and the administrative and alphabetical shortcomings of their native civilizations. It creates an age old impetus to continually redefine and rename oneself in pursuit of broader social acceptance in their host culture, but with the end result of providing additional caricatures and stereotypes by which they can be more easily identified and isolated. Not so much sensitivity as all-consuming, life-long self-doubt and neuroses.

In addition to the problems that other posters have pointed out about this question we also have to consider that race based on skin color is a very broad category. For example if we are talking about whites we are talking about everyone from Afrikaners to Russians and for Brown could mean everyone from Indonesians to Argentines.

I suspect that the OP means just in the US context but even there we are talking about a very disparate subgroups.
