That's a good point. And applies to a healthy McGrady too, I suppose. In either case, though, I suppose we could have reloaded and tried again. I suppose with Sampson, all the other pieces are in place.
Ralph all day, any day. Good God, who knows what kind of player he could have been along with Hakeem for years and years.
Ralph, Ralph, Ralph. Too many young Rockets fans here that don't realize how dominant we would have been if he had stayed healthy. We would have entered the 90's with a couple of championships in hand.
I would go with Ralph. Imagine how scary the Twin Towers would have been if healthy while Hakeem matured.
Ron was mentally great when he was with us. He claimed when he joined the Rockets he was seeing a therapist. Bad choice.

I love Yao and would like to see him still playing if I could. But Ralph Sampson is who I'd pick. The Twin Towers scared the crap out of the NBA. No question they would've won a championship or three if Ralph's body had held up.
Ron didn't have any 'mental' problems when he was with the Rockets. In fact, he was a great Rocket. he NEVER got in any trouble like he did with Indiana or Chicago. And on top of that he gave LOVE TO CLUTCHFANS. Found that statement quite insulting to those who remembered his tenure here.
Obviously Sampson. He was the third most talented player to play for the Rockets (behind Dream and Moses), and he got to play with Dream. It's a no brainer.
This. Hate having to pass up Yao, who is probably my favorite PERSON every to play for the Rockets with the best work ethic. Still, a healthy Yao would have still needed another superstar and a solid bench. With a healthy Ralph and Hakeem, we'd have been set for a full decade.
unfortunately you can only pick either tmac's back problem or tmac's mental health. either way, you'll end up with injuured tmac.
