He's not even starting on this team! How can he start in the NBA?

DMo against Russia. Actually he was pretty bad on defense, as usually. But he always finds his man when fight for rebound in the paint (even if other of his team grabs it he does horse work), holds him pretty well. The main problem on defense I see when opp catches the ball on 3pt line (and Dmo drives to him), opp just make simple fake and drives towards without problem (you can see it @2:10). That's just silly.

He looked pretty good in that vid. A couple of bads were when he lost his man under the basket on what would have been an easy bucket for the opposition in the NBA. On another time he attempted a lob pass that went nowhere but may have been good in the NBA.

Hard to get a real feel with just a short vid like this but he moves exceptionally well on offense with out the ball. There was one play on defense where he successfully covered two post players by himself. He had a real nice pass to Jonas and is a very good outlet passer once he secures the defensive rebound.

The one thing that strikes me about DMo is that he is a pure team player. He never appears to just assert his will, he always seems to stay with in the play and make the pass or shoot the ball when he is supposed to.

He may be able to hold his position on offense and defense better with his added weight and strength but he is clearly always going to be a finesse player.

JValan is a superior player in the league atm. I can agree with that.

The finnese part is sometimes annoying for me when i watch him play. I want him just to simply attack the basked and get contact with his defender, instead he just do his fancy moves . I would like him to incorporate some of JV moves, for example that pump fake and drive for the dunk, JV do it extremely well, i believe Dmo could do it to.

D-Mo needs training from the Dream in the off season,as soon as the European competition ends.

I like both Jones & D-Mo for very different reasons, but Jones might be the better fit next year to play alongside star caliber players at this point. I think he can impact the game in smaller ways like rebounding, blocked shots, and hustle points than D-Mo would be able to.

However, long-term D-Mo might be a better fit if he can fit the 3 consistently and get better at defense. Offensively, this guy has the potential to really be a force.

The main question I have is, how long can the front office be patient enough to stick with the development of these two high upside players? You would have to think that at least one of these guys will develop enough this Summer to solidify the position, but its possible they still might not be ready for prime-time.

If we are gauging where they were in May as a comparison its hard to see year 2 being that much of a jump in reliability. More than likely year 3 will be when both of these guys will maximize their potential. Hopefully I'm wrong though and we see major strides this Fall.

He needs to slow down a little. He chases and tries to get ahead of the defenders and because of it misses the defenders completely. Also, his communication during switching is bad. When you watch him play he would go and switch to a perimeter player and leave a player under the basket. Just stick to your man and don't over switch.

Have to agree with this. He moves very well and looks a lot more fluid than he did last year, setting lots of screens and getting out of his guards way.

Luis wasn't athletic, but he had great footwork on the low block. He loved to score against Gasol,Odom etc. D-Mo is taller,he needs to hold his position in the post, look to score like Luis used to,and rebound. Defense is another area of concern.
An occasional 3 pointer is ok. I hope he can develop into a good bench player.
If D-Mo doesn't show much improvement by the trading deadline,he may be moved ala Marcus Morris. Your comments about Jones are right, but he is in a similar situation to D-Mo. If he shows gradual improvement and consistency ,he may be retained in my opinion.

D-Mo was pretty awesome within 8 feet of the basket last season. Converted 63% or so of his shots down there. 66/106, well above league average. However, to be the starting PF on the Rockets next season he will have to hit ~35% or better on his 3 point shots and play around average defense. Its is looking likely that it is either TJ or D-Mo at the power forward position, at least until the trade deadline.

Morey may intend to grow internally the PF of the future. There are actually few power forwards that have the skill set the Rockets need at that position.

hes not starting because off Linas Kleiza. Even though LK have been **** in NBA these recent seasons, hes always been force in International play. Also dont forget Lavrinovish brothers who are stretch PF's themself, they shoot the ball better and have much more experience than dmo( playing in top Euroleague clubs for +10season each ).

+ if you plan to play D-mo as a C, you got Captain Javtokas there. Dmo just needs to get into coach rotation and be a force of the bench that could give us 2 3pter's a game. Oh and he needs to improve his FT's!!
