Pick 6 exemplified his weak arm. There's a reason why he doesn't throw in the redzone...tight windows + weak arm = 2010: Let's not forget the Ravens game ....when he threw the ball directly to Webb.
Problem with putting all the blame on the QB or coach is you ignore the other problems the team has. The same works with giving all the credit to the QB/coach.
Seriously? Since they got worse with Yates, all is well with Schaub as the starter? Schaub makes about 15x more than his replacement, and the replacement doesn't do as well, and that absolves Schaub somehow? Maybe a big reason why the team tanked is that the only guy that touches the ball every single snap and makes the most money didn't perform up to expecations in big games. Is that not a possibility? If the running game and defense are as good as you say (which would be elite according to you at #6), that reflects poorly on Schaub for not being able to get farther than the Wildcard round while being paid 15mil a year. Is that not obvious?
Lol no kidding, I use to think people were going overboard on purpose but now I just think they trying way to hard to point out some flaws as to be the sole reason behind a loss that they are starting to believe it as absolute. He doesn't get credit for getting the 18 point lead with less than 5 min to go in the whole game but with less than 5 to go and his defense is on the field and he is the reason they lost. lol I just don't get that logic.
I love that picture... I just want to hug my dog every time I see it. Not sure if you are posting that at me as in WTH are you talking about or at the post right above mine that I was trying to be condescending towards. Maybe I failed...
You've jumped into the middle of a much longer thread and landed right on top of the context, taking this in a completely different direction… A earlier claim was made that Schaub doesn’t make the Texans better; we have a decent sample size to suggest that he actually does, including a very, very, very good team in 2011 getting appreciably worse after he got hurt. I think it’s very much a possibility, which is why I’d argue that the notion Schaub is being carried by a better team is bogus. If he doesn’t play well, or at all, the Texans are an appreciably worse team. Do you disagree? You’re having an argument with yourself; no one is trying to absolve Schaub of any blame. I’m not even sure what your point is, frankly. You’re just confirming what many in this thread are posting: that too many fans are so blinded by their hatred of Schaub, they can’t be rational. It’s OK to praise the guy when he deserves it while maintaining he’s not the answer. For example, I have no problem saying that I think the Texans can win a Super Bowl with him; but not if he plays like he did down the stretch last year. And if that’s the performance we get from him again this year, I’m perfectly content to punt him and move in a different direction.
i thought sbnation had a good article/blog(what's the difference nowadays?) on the situation. the comment section worth reading too http://www.battleredblog.com/2013/8/21/4643068/matt-schaub-hidden-injury-play-action-deandre-hopkins
Well I jumped in on page 2 (the same page as you incidentally)...sorry that wasn't early enough to legitimize my comments. A different direction? The topic is Schaub needs to take it up a notch. Pretty sure I stayed in line with that direction. He makes the Texans better than TJ Yates -- Uh...so? Has Schaub taken the Texans any further than Yates has? Seems to me they have the same playoff record with pretty much the same team. Don't disagree, but don't agree with your conclusion that he isn't carried by the team. The fact that they're worse when he doesn't play well just shows how much impact a QB has on a team. I'd also say 'appreciably worse' is in question, considering Yates as a rookie 5th rounder has taken them as far as Schaub. My argument is the Texans likely can't win a SB with Schaub. Your argument is I guess that the Texans can win a SB with Schaub if he plays awesome, and they have an elite defense and running game, but somehow aren't carrying Schaub, even though a 5th round rookie achieved the same results? Yeah, I'm the one arguing with myself. Of course it's okay to praise him. No one is saying it's not. If I didn't know better I'd say you're arguing with yourself on that one. When you're getting paid what Schaub is, if the best you can say is "the team CAN win an SB, but not if he plays like last year", then there's an issue. Hence the title/context/whatever, "Schaub needs to take it up a notch".
