The Dwight Howard/Kobe Bryant relationship just keeps on getting better. According to CSN Bay Area, Dwight Howard demanded two things in his meeting with the Lakers in July: Fire Mike D’Antoni and amnesty, or muzzle Kobe Bryant. “Talks with various people close to the situation make it clear there were two prerequisites for Dwight Howard to remain a Laker: fire Mike D’Antoni and amnesty, or at the very least muzzle, Kobe Bryant.” “The Lakers apparently asked Dwight to be patient on both fronts for at least another season, telling him “hey, you’re going to have to gut this out another year,” a source said, although it sounds as if VP of basketball ops Jim Buss isn’t ready to abandon Kobe anytime soon. ‘Dwight didn’t want to play with Kobe for 2-3 more years,” Buss said. “I’m going to stand behind Kobe because of his history with the franchise.’” http://lakeshowlife.com/2013/08/24/...edium=Network&utm_campaign=Around the Network
Kobe's a winner who could help most young NBA players become great, but Dwight is just better suited off here anyway.
Who cares! Great for us and LA is now done for a few years. DONE. Lebron is not going to go to LA. Carmelo will stay in NY or try to form his own super team somewhere (Houston or LAC). They aren't going to lose enough to get a top pick unless the league steps in and rigs the lottery. I predict Kobe to go down with injury again. Don't know why I feel like that but the end is near for that guy. The Lakers will end up being one of the worst defensive teams in the league this year. Cue up "The Goonies" Sean Astin by the wish fountain speech. It is our time.
Pretty clear to me that he had no intention of staying in LA from the get-go, because surely Dwight knew that was never going to happen.
Coming from an unreliable source... yet some Laker fans now insist he is credible. L.A media and franchise are just making themselves look bad. It's like an crazy ex-gf which is still looking for any justifiable reason as to why they got dumped. They need to worry about their future not another player that isn't on their team anymore. For a franchise with so much success and history, they are definitely making themselves look foolish. That franchise is about to be in a world of hurt in the coming years. Everyone else sees it, except them.
If true, it doesn't bother me. I imagine the conversation went something like this: Dwight: "I'm exploring other options. I can't see me as a Laker next season." Lakers: "Dwight, what can we do to keep you?" Dwight: "Realistically, nothing." Lakers: "So you're saying there's a chance? Humor us. What would keep you here?" Dwight (chuckling slightly): "Fire Pringles and get Kobe off my back or deal him for young talent." Lakers: "Pringles we can do but not Kobe but be patient. He is breaking down and can be moved in a year or so." Dwight: "Like I said, I'm out. Thanks for everything but I'm H-town bound."
