Hey guys, I am looking to buy a new 47"-50" HD Smart TV. It should be 1080p. For anyone of you that have bought this kind of TV, what do you recommend me to buy and why? Which is better, LED or Plasma? Which TV brand is the best? Which is inexpensive? Please tell me what I should buy. There are a lot of TVs online that I can't decide which one I should go with. I appreciate your feedback.
Always been in the plasma camp. I just think it is a superior picture. I just got a Panasonic ST60 and love it
At this point, you can't go wrong with either in terms of picture quality. But in terms of motion enhancement, plasmas will always be better. The listed refresh rate goes hand-in-hand with the artificial motion interpolation. So if you want to get rid of the soap-opera effect, you'll end up with the native refresh rate. However, you actually get the higher refresh rate on 5:5 or 10:10 pulldown. So when watching a blu-ray, the 24fps will display the same frame 10 passes in a row without having to do the 3:2 pulldown. With plasmas, you're really getting 10 sub-pictures per frame. You're always going to get a full 1080 lines at 10, regardless of how fast the motion is. This isn't the case with LCD/LEDS. I only bring this up because you said you wanted a 1080p. The aforementioned concerns probably less than 1% of those looking for a new TV. Plasmas will always get my vote, but depending on your situation, you might want to go with a LCD/LED. Is this for your living room with a lot of windows? What's your budget? I can always help you find a deal.
Man, you must be TV expert, just kidding. Are you saying Plasma is better? It is for my bedroom. My bedroom is dark though, because I have a curtain. I am fine with any TV that costs less than $850.
VIZIO E470i-A0 47-inch 1080p 120Hz LED Smart HDTV $598 Read some reviews: http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E470i-A0-47-inch-1080p-120Hz/dp/B009LG6AWG Cheap, with good picture quality
If you love sports, you have to go plasma on a TV that big. The biggest negative on plasma is that it's a darker (but actually more accurate) picture. So if there's a lot of sun in the room, it can be a little worse than the LED. I also have the Panasonic ST60 and it's phenomenal and I even have it in a room with all windows and sun.
I forgot about 3d. Yes, I would buy 3d as long as TV is still below $850. I wonder if a lot of people like 3d or are there lot of TV programming that supports 3d? I am huge sports fan, especially Houston ones. I have a wireless router, so I can go with wireless. I thought every Smart TV has wireless?
Vizio? Mehhh.... I dont know about that one. I just read reviews and there are a lot of problems regarding Vizio.
Panasonic TC-P50S60 (no 3D) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ARAHBIW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Panasonic TC-P50ST60 (3D) http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TC-...ie=UTF8&qid=1377383389&sr=8-1&keywords=50st60 The S60 is under your budget, but don't buy either yet. If you can wait a few more weeks, I'm sure you can get it much cheaper.
