My dog passed away last Monday, I was with him to the very end/ fighting to the very end. He had complications/ paralyzed he tried to get up and withstand the aches and pain but it was just unbearable for him, he was only 9 yrs old. I'm sure some of you clutchfans out there are pet owners and it is a heartache when you realize they're not with you side by side anymore. It hurts man, having trouble sleeping/ can hardly eat sometimes, but healing takes time and spiritually they're still with us, watching us waiting to be hold again.dedicating this thread to you pet owners out there who have lost their little loved ones.

I hate reading these threads as I've been through this ordeal so many times and it's truly heart breaking. I now have pretty much all youngins, 4, almost 3 and 2 years old. I cannot even IMAGINE my life at home without my buddies. Praying for you brother. In my family dogs are not pets, they're family. They sleep in bed with us, go pretty much everywhere with us that they are allowed to and just bring nothing but happiness and joy into our lives.

Sorry about your loss, bud. Pets are awesome. Getting a dog was one of the single most life altering things I've done. Time will heal wounds.

First off let me say I know exactly what you're going through. We had to put down all three of our dogs over an 18 month period. They each lived over 11 yrs. Like Longhornfan stated, they were part of our familly. They brought more happiness to us than we could ever give them.

Putting them down was THE hardest thing I've ever done. I cried like a baby and even though it's been about six yrs it still hurts when I allow myself to think about it.

Someone shared the "Rainbow Bridge" poem with me when after we put the first one down, and it certainly helped. I've shared it numerous times on Clutchfans for others that were going through it.

Wish there was something I could say or do to make the pain go away. Hang in there my friend.

see I can't even read it, i'd start bawling like a baby at work.

so sorry for your loss. i look at my baby in the eyes sometimes and get a lump in my throat thinking about the horrible day she'll have to leave me forever. there's just something about dogs, they have a million different things they can say to you just with their eyes. their obedience, the unconditional love they give you, the comfort they give you...NOTHING compares.

    RIP, VHB's pup. :(

All three of our dogs that we had to put down were pugs.
All three of them were so loving.

Sorry for the loss (to everyone).

I've got one who is about 14 and has appeared to age five years in the last five months. I found her as a puppy when I was 21 so she is my first dog as an adult. My goal is to get her through the holidays but no matter when she goes, I hope it is peaceful and in her sleep. I'm reasonably sure I would be dead if not for this dog so I owe her everything I can give her while she is here.

I hope everyone looks to rescues, shelters or strays to find a new friend to share their lives with. No dog can replace the one you lost but saving a life helps lessen the pain and gives you a new bond to pour your love and affection into.
