1 bedroom luxury apartment in the Heights will run about $1500. Med Center/West U is about $1400. Nice/near luxury apartment in the suburbs are around $1000.

Aren't you going to UT? West Campus prices are some of the highest.

geesh, $1500 to rent a 1-bedroom apt in Houston or Dallas? It better be really nice. My mortgage is less than that.

    IMO $900 is too much.

There's much hyperbole in this thread.

I almost took a job in Dallas over Houston (thank god I didn't), and when I was searching for places to live, I found that the Dallas apartments were generally cheaper than Houston. A $1200 apartment in Houston will only cost $950-1000 there. I still can't figure out why.

But yes, I agree... The apartments have a standard to live up to at these crazy prices. They usually do.

It's crazy, I'm in a 2BR, 2 bath condo - inside the loop (between River Oaks and Uptown), 1400sq ft, wood floors, stainless steel appliances, cookie cutter granite and pay $1300 (cable include). Suckers.

No room available there unless you're looking to buy. Landlord lives in Arizona, she has no clue what the market value is. Please don't tell her. If you pay me $2,000 a month for the one that is available (carpet) I might buy it and let you rent for a year. PM me if interested.

Wow I really need to move back to Houston. Im getting killed in Chicago for a 1bed 1.5 bath in south loop. I have great amenities, its granite stainless steel and a doorman but 2300 is a lot not including garage(200) and bills. I'm hoping to find a place in the galleria area when I get back and if I have to pay a little more than half of what I'm paying that's a win in my book.

I pay 1310/mo in Euless...but I am on a 3 month lease, it was only like 8 or 900 for a 10 month lease. If that helps at all. Also, when I moved up here a few months ago I had a thread asking for similar info...there may be some info there for you.

That's pretty absurd for the South Loop considering it's supposed to be the cheapest area out of the Central Loop and River North area.
