Even though I HATED Man of Steel, I was still kind of hopeful for this movie because of the influence Snyder was taking from The Dark Knight Returns (which I really love). But not anymore. My hope is gone.
[comic book guy] Worst. Casting. Ever. [/comic book guy] This is sad. I thought the studio hinted that they would go for an older and grizzled Batman... and they pick Ben Affleck?! I don't even necessarily have a problem with Affleck--okay, nevermind, I do, as an actor at least--but I do have a problem with a young-looking guy playing Batman. Even worse, he's a too easily recognized actor! If the internet rages enough, will the studio change its mind?? Yeah, probably not.
Affleck is a good actor, I bet 100% he can play the character of whatever the director wants it to be. Affleck is a serious actor he won't tarnish the Batman name. He knows that would forever stain his legacy. Wait and see.
Maybe he's the batman we deserve, but not the one we need right now. So we'll curse him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our batman. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark affleck.
Maybe he can help Snyder direct. He's got the jawline. I'll reserve judgement until I see him in a trailer.
Not thrilled but I think he can do a decent job. He will be able to at least pull off the physical presence. Hopefully, he doesn't go overboard with the voice like Bale did.
