This is by far the most outrageous statement anyone has ever made.

It did go down a lot - all the way from 64% TS to 58% TS. That said, Melo's career playoff TS is 52%, he's never posted 58% TS in the regular season, and he's only posted 58% TS in the playoffs once - back in 2007.

It's worth noting that LeBron's TS also dropped almost exactly the same amount from roughly 64% to 58% in the playoffs. Both Durant and LeBron were hurt by a handful very poor shooting games, without which they would have averaged over 60% TS and closer to their RS averages. LeBron's were largely due to paint-packing defense and his jumpshot not falling until the second half of the finals, while Durant's were probably due to fatigue from having to take over Westbrook's playmaking in addition to his own scoring, since all his worst shooting games happened towards the end of OKC's playoff run.

Well, every other stat available besides PPG says otherwise, and it's not even close.

You would think with all the smack Felton talks that he was some sort of superstar with the reputation to back it up as opposed to the mediocre player that he really is.

Carmelo is the better scorer as he can do it in any which way he wants at any time. KD is an overall more efficient scorer.

Carmelo posting up still results in the same amount of points as Durant's mid range jumpers. Points are points no matter how they're put in the basket, and Durant puts more balls into the basket than Carmelo does.

    Durant is a better scorer.

Not even mad. If he didnt say that, he'd be a bad teammate. I bet you Lin would say the same about Harden, doesnt make it true.

It's an interesting question. On one hand, such a player would be the single most effective, efficient scorer in the game and average the most points since Wilt.

On the other hand, in this theoretical scenario, why is he only taking 15 shots and doing nothing else? 15 shots and nothing else would mean he's likely only the 3rd option on his team. That tells me that he probably can't create at all, he's completely reliant on his teammates to give him those scoring opportunities. And there are probably very effective ways to shut this player down, otherwise why wouldn't a team run its offense through him. So his team probably isn't able to draw effective plays for him in crucial situations. He's basically a super Tyson Chandler, guard version. Is that the greatest scorer? I don't know. It's an interesting question.

I feel like we might need a distinction between a great offensive weapon and a great scorer.

I agree. Carmelo can score in a variety of ways. To me he is the best scorer in the league, but is nowhere near being the best player. He is behind Durant in that department.

lol what kind of dumb logic is that? Iverson was a PG, he didn't need a post up game. KD needs a post up game to further develop himself. Right now he just flails his arms around to get cheap calls so he can get his 8-12 fts per game. If KD had a post up game he would be a monster to stop.

If we are judging this by the numbers, then I think TS% alone doesn't come close to telling the whole story. Offensive role is a major factor too. Carmelo plays a significantly bigger role on his team than Durant. And with a bigger role, efficiency always drops.

He may not be Durant or Harden or LeBron in terms of efficiency, but Carmelo is still an efficient scorer. That ability to take a bigger offensive load than any other player in the league AND stay efficient puts Melo in conversation of the best scorer in the game.

Is Melo the best offensive player? I don't think so, I think that's LeBron. Is Melo the best scorer? I don't know. But he's one of 3-4 players who have a case, IMO.

Sorry LCAhmed, but I don't think Lin would flat out lie to make brownie points. The same applies for publicly ripping a teammate when the teammate deserves to be ripp'd.

He has more in his arsenal, but he doesn't play to his biggest strength of posting up nearly enough.

He keeps jacking up the worst possible shots.

KD has less in his arsenal, but he shoots a lot of 3s at a high % and drives at a high %.

***** marsh melo- he gonna have to opt out. Won the scoring title and then got to the play offs and decided to pass. And no one could get hot bc he didnt pass the whole season. The knicks are easy to defend against. fat guys stick together.

Well it happened after I made a thread about rondo to Miami knowing that the twitter account of Adrian woj was fake. He got an infraction and I couldn't rep anymore. However, I can still make threads and revive reps so I'm good lol

This is like me saying 'Raymond Felton is a better eater than Joey Chestnut.' Close, but ultimately, untrue.
