I know a lot of us are still mad about the Dallas series, but being realistic there is no reason the NBA would have wanted us to lose. The tandem of Yao/Mac was potential gold.

It was extremely poor officiating, but based more on incompetence than being rigged.

Really other than that Kings Lakers game, most NBA games are what it is...refs either put the game out of reach early...or keep it close. The Kings were up by so much and the Lakers literally snatched a victory from the Jaws of Defeat

It doesn't have to come from the commissioner to be "rigged." It could simply be gambling interests driving official(s) to help an underdog win a game or cover a spread unexpectedly in order to satisfy bookies.

That link references several instances of "rigging" over many years. He quoted the reference that was specifically concerning the Rockets-Mavs playoff series. Take your own advice.

How exactly is this considered rigged when a coach complains about a player who is setting illegal screens, which he clearly was, and then the referees actually correcting their ****ty referring by now calling those illegal screens.

You are 100% right, I did not see his quote from the article. I thought it was a signature that went on all his posts. I do need to work on my reading comprehension lol. My mistake.

Any time I watch something about that game it pisses me off. And I'm not even a fan of the kings. Can not Imagine how a kings player feels watching that.

Has a single one of those king players ever win a ring except peja?

That Rockets/Mavs series brings back bad memories:(

Yao was obviously a target. The guy was called for EVERY cheap call you could think of. There is no conspiracy after that series, the league rigged that whole series

C-Webb was one of my favorite non-rocket players at the time of that Lakers-Kings series. Felt bad for him and Divac. No wonder those d***bag laker fans always feel entitled to everything.

I don't think they rig games like "we want the Lakers or the Sixers in the finals."

Its more like "we want this series to go to 7, so star X is getting 3 quick fouls in Q1 of game 6" That Lakers series was rigged the other way in game 5 iirc.

I will say the refs have become quite good at hitting one team with crucial fouls, then hiding the FT discrepancy with a flurry of meaningless fouls on the other team in garbage time.

Most rigged lottery was in 2014 when the Lakers miraculously won the 1st pick in Andrew Wiggins to continue Lakers' showtime after Kobe's retirement.

Two series instantly come to mind.

    Lakers / Kings

Mavs / Heat (Wade & Shaq) finals. That was far and away the worst IMO. No way Stern was going to let Cuban have that one since Cuban was constantly thumbing his nose at stern. The Mavs were completely dominating that series and were about to go up 3 games to 0 in the 4th quarter of game 3, that's when the officials started blowing whistles anytime an opposing player got within arms reach of DWade. It's was embarrassingly obvious what was happening since DWade was getting calls when was not even being guarded. I have no love for the Mavs but that is the low point for the league IMO.

For those who don't know, it was a hard fought game 5

    http://www.clutchfans.net/game.cfm?gameID=2766

Also, lets not get hasty. We were the underdogs in this series and every win was gravy. Regardless of the disastrous game 7, we were all drooling at the future domination of Tmac and Yao once the supporting staff was improved (Ryan Bowen, PF, WTF). Tmac and Yao had plenty of future opportunities to establish their legacies.

I honestly get more pissed off thinking about the 2008 series against the Jazz...
