[WOW] Anonymous woman says autistic child should be euthanized for being disabled

That said, in the world of the internet, the counter-reaction is going to be ridiculous and unnecessary too. If they DO find out who it was, it will become public, and that person/family is going to get everything from hate mail to death threats of their own.

We have no way of knowing, but I agree. I would guess that a man wrote it.

 

Any quick read of any comment section will reveal suggestions that myself, my wife, and my kids die a terrible death. Anonymity turns all these cretins into, well, anonymous cretins.

And yet they never have the balls to do it over Twitter, or over an email. Never.

 

Whoever wrote that is a ****ty human being that probably goes through a miserable life day to day.

I'd say this is worse in that this woman knows it was written by someone around her and her kid.

 

This garbage happens all the time to families of kids with disabilities. It's a good thing we have mom bloggers and morning news shows so we can hear about it once a year, condemn it, and go about our business.

I'd say that if the whaling noise was something that really irritated the person who wrote the letter that it had to be someone who lived within 3-4 houses in either direction of the autistic child's home.

 

heard about it on the radio this morning and they were saying that the words used in the letter sounds like a guy would have wrote it...

I hope for humanity's sake the letter is fake. Some people are just mean.

The letter was put on the mother's front doorstep by a neighbor of hers. That's a little different than some random internet post. Obviously.

 

I think it's an expression of outrage (not drivel) aimed at the contempt that some have for people born with mental and or physical impairment that caused this to go 3 pages.

It warmed my heart when I turned on the news to see neighbors surrounding the young man. He was happy and in his element.

I know people think the same stuff about my boy. I knew it well before this story ever came about. I can imagine opening that letter and reading it with the emotions it would stir inside me.

My son was a victim of a predator. What I had imagined in my head as one of my worst potential nightmare for my son actually happened. We went through the criminal process and faced evil. With this young man in the news, he has the saving grace like my son did. This young man has no idea what has happened, how people view him, or how he should feel now as his condition isolates him from the ugly that exists in this world.

In a strange way, this cretin who wrote the letter has shone the light on what is good about this young man and his family and provided them with support. Hate don't heal hurt. Move forward, the people that matter understand your struggle, appreciate your efforts and love you for it. If my family hadn't let hate go, there would have been no Belize moment for us to share with our peers. I have no doubt that this family will move forward gracefully.

 

I watched that video. It was nice the neighborhood was supporting the family and kid.

I didn't understand the last part of the video where it said the family was looking to press charges against the letter writer. What crime is this person guilty of? Intimidation?

 

I think that's hurt talking. If being an a-hole was a crime, 95% of this board would have a record (myself included).

I sent the lady a FB message of support yesterday. I think she really needs to know this reflects poorly on the person who wrote the letter and not people like her son. We all know people like the letter writer exist.

The outpouring of love from others for the family is heartwarming and makes what the awful person wrote fade away.
