the media is reading way too much into it (shock horror), all dwight said is pretty much what has been said all along, that certainl lineups will be better with those 2 on the court (such as memphis) and he's cool with that, and with Dwight being the vastly better athlete, him playing the pf weak side defender is a no brainer.

It's not about asik mindset. Come on. What I'm saying is you put the best 5 out there. Are you suggesting we are better with Dmo,jones,casspi, smith in there vs. asik? The best 5 team is asik howard parsons harden lin. Everyone hates the idea of twin towers but the replacement is Dmo,jones,casspi, smith? I'm not sure how I can compute this and understand what you are saying. How is dmo,jones,casspi, smith a better option for 'not clogging the paint' when they collectively add up to dried shi**it? and if you counter with the 3s from casspi and dmo just remember how badly they will get destroyed on defense vs. PFs. definitely more so than asik or howard. The idea that DMo>asik or Jones>asik or Casspi>asik or Smith>asik is absolutely nuts. Casspi is such scrub and almost out of the league. We are reaching if we think that casspi is going come in and just ball. Dude is gonna go steve novak on defense. Yeah we hope casspi can stretch a la delfino but lets be real here. Its like a 20% chance at best that the guy materializes. And look me in the eyes in general and say casspi > asik... and dmo is such unproven don't even try to sugarcoat that. Asik is WAAY better. Asik gets no respect here. Defense wins championships.. I thought. Except on clutchfans apparently.

Just because Asik fumbled the ball occasionally people are forgetting what an absolute juggernaut he was on defense for the Rockets last season. To me, he was our most important player. Without him, Harden or not, we would have been decimated by our opponents, and we did, whenever he sat. But people always get their head turned by the new girl with the big t*** and nice ass, forgetting all about their stunning gf/wife who also takes care of them and cooks for them, cause hey, you just take a good thing for granted after a while.
Asik and Howard together will do wonders for the Rox on the defensive end more than anything. On offense, the 5 of Asik, Howard, Parson, Harden and Lin will be spaced out just fine because you have 3 shooters (all 35% and up from 3pt range) spreading the floor. It CAN be a perfect balance in my opinion. So let's forget about offense and the "clogging" problem for a while. One of the aspects that kept Houston from becoming an elite team last year was a not so elite defense and weakness at the PF position. Asik was forced to hold down the fort with essentially 4 perimeter guys who didn't intimidate anyone at all. This was why for a stretch, the tandem of Greg Smith and Asik worked so well for them and why Howard and Asik together will be awesome for their defense as well. If they will do some clogging and congesting, might as well do it on the defensive end. They will erase any matadorian mistakes made by Harden and Lin with a bonus of gobbling up all the defensive boards to outlet to Harden, Lin and Parsons taking off at the other end. With KG in the twilight of his career, there aren't many PFs in the league who will be quicker than Howard and create a disadvantage. Getting this 5 guys together playoff primed will make all the other Western and Eastern powers scared at the thought of facing this unit.
^^^^This... Asik has been stroking that midrange shot overseas. If he works it into his game, a Stretch 5 he will be (and a deadly one at that)... Gosh man .... a 7 foot stretch 5 .... To get that out of Asik combined with Howard's game + their defensive prowess = Yikes for the rest of the NBA!
