Why the term "LOH" should never be used (LOFs, listen up)

I think the -OH label goes to anyone who constantly rags on a player and intentionally infuriates the -OF's.

That or it must be some sort of nomenclature for organic chemistry.

Did you put this in the Dish so that I couldn't vote it one-star?

    1. Yet another thead about the LOF/LOH war that seems to only be of any interest to the LOHs in the first place. These threads are far more bothersome than the nuthuggiest thread any LOF had ever started.

    2. LOH is a perfectly valid idea, if not a perfect corollary to the LOF. It doesn't have to be a corollary to be valid. LOHs are people who spend far too fighting perceived LOFs (which often results in them riding down Lin himself -- I'll give the LOH the benefit of the doubt and call most of the excess criticism of Lin collateral damage). What does it matter if they've been here a decade if they're annoying as ****?

    3. The whole approach of this thread is to attempt to win an argument by invalidating the opponent. This is like challenging a candidate's signatures to get on the ballot the day before an election. It's trying to just shut down debate instead of winning it. I guess it shouldn't be surprising. The original LOF and the original original YOF were also labels to try to invalidate the opinions of fans of Lin and Yao because of their racial allegiance. Label them a LOF or a YOF and you don't have to debunk any assertion they make -- it's an ad hominem fallacy.

    4. The argument is only going to be persuasive to LOHs. LOFs won't care. Most people won't care and keep on keeping on. So, on top of everything else, nothing has been accomplished.

I don't like the term LOH either, not because of what it means, it's the severe lack of creativity in which it was formed.

    So people dislike Lin =GlenRices

People who come on clutch fan because they are extremely insecure about Lin and defends Lin 24/7 even when there is no topic for defense = Mario Chalmers

The people who joined for the original reasons... you know what to call them! :)

I think a bigger problem is people who actually care about this "LOF" and "LOH" crap. Seems like they have too much time on their hands. Surely there's more interesting things out there for them to devote their thoughts and passion to.

I agree LOHs do not exist.

But I can say for sure that there are LFHs (Lin Fans Haters) around here. Some of them might have been really ticked off by what the Lin fans have said before. And I have no problem with them. But there are also LFHs who hate the Lin fans for reasons that have nothing to do with Jeremy Lin, or even have nothing to do with basketball. And they use the Lin debate as an lame excuse to attack. They are the ones that I have problem with. It is actually not difficult to spot these morons. Just pay attention to the posts of the ones who joined this forum (or made up a new screen name) after July 2012 and then kept going after the Lin fans. I say these losers are mostly 40-something single men who still live in the basement of their mom's home. Generalization much? Yes I agree it is a stupid generalization. Perhaps as stupid as the generalization that all LOFs are Asians?

What a great thread! Another example of waste of internet space, but never mind, we have lots of space.

This is strange reasoning. This thread is a waste of space and time.

Maybe it's because I hang around too many sports fans who only care about their own team, but I've never found issue with the concept of "only fans." I'm a "Rockets only fan" in that I follow other teams in the NBA teams only peripherally and generally in context of my Houston team. Most of my friends have basically followed their own teams for 10+ years and will never root for any other team. Almost never have I met someone who liked a sport in general without rooting almost exclusively one team. Yet at the same time, I've never met a sports fan who's entire fandom is about hating a team/player/anything else. If they hated a team, it's because that team's a rival to his own team, or that team is the eqivalent of the Yankees(i.e. a Dortmund fan hating Munich). But never hate for the sake of hating.

If someone told me that I'm overrating the Rockets/Morey/Harden/Howard because I'm a biased Rockets fan, do I take offense? No. If I'm told I'm biased against Stockton/Malone in some NBA historical rankings because I hate the Jazz, I'd also probably agree. Of course I'm biased. Of course my knowledge and caring of other NBA teams would be a lot less than the Rockets. I feel absolutely no offense towards such an accusation.

Because in the end, I am a very biased fan with a biased view where I care only about the success of 1 team in the entire NBA. And if people were to call me a Rockets only fan, I would simply reply that with "Yes I am" instead of "You're just a Rockets only hater."

What do you call someone who:

    1. Mocks Rockets fans for rooting for a 2nd tier team
    2. Says your 2 rings were because Jordan was on vacay
    3. Says Houston will never measure up to Boston, L.A. Chicago...or S.A.
    4. Say Hakeem was way over-rated and defintely not a top 5 center
    5. Say Duncan was better than Hakeem - even heck even Ewing
    6. Puts the city of Houston down
    7. Says our uniforms are ugly and cheesy
    8. Pippen was disrespected in Houston and deserved better
    9. Said they laughed when Stockton hit that 3 over Barkley

How do you describe such a person? A ROH...maybe?

I welcome them and hope that they can fall in love with the Rockets.

I want the whole world to root for the Rockets tbh.

I would ask who this person's favorite team is. If he answers the Jazz, I would just call him a Jazz fan.

    A nonbeliever.

Seriously though the 'LOHs' were mostly trolls.

I remember that guy, forget his name...but he created two accounts just to troll. We have to remember there was a lot of Knick fans really upset at how Lin left and thus would hate him.

I think that fool actually pretended to be a LOF to troll. He had one screenname acting like a LOH and another screenname pretending to be a LOF. Sometimes he would use the LOF screenname to make agitating posts and then responded to himself with the LOH screenname to bash the Lin fans in general. He was eventually spotted by a mod and got exposed.
