Oh yeah I kmow he's had a good August, I was just looking at his last 10 games where his average is .188 and his OPS is .770 (solid ops).

Lancaster tried the big late-inning rally again.

Oklahoma City looked to create more separation between them and the team right behind them.

    Recap

    Oklahoma City 5, Albuquerque 1

The Redhawks increased their lead in the American South division over the Isotopes to 5 games as they've taken the first 2.

Entering the 4th, the Redhawks trailed 1-0 thanks to an error from Jimmy Paredes in the 1st, but Carlos Perez put them on top with a 2-run double, and he wound up scoring on a single from Ruben Sosa. Brandon Laird scored on a passed ball in the 8th, and Sosa added a sac fly later in the inning. Perez and Paredes were both 2-3; Laird and Che-Hsuan Lin went 2-4.

Paul Clemens went 6 2/3 innings, and the run that scored on Paredes' error was unearned. He allowed 2 hits, walked 3, and fanned 6. Jose Cisnero got the final out of the 7th and the first 2 outs of the 8th with strikeouts. Wade LeBlanc got the final out of the 8th. Hector Ambriz allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 in a scoreless 9th to close it out.

Game 3 of this series features Asher Wojciechowski on the mound as he looks to bounce back from 2 consecutive poor road outings. He will face Matt Palmer at 6:05.

    Arkansas 9, Corpus Christi 3

The Travelers jumped out to a 9-2 lead after 3 innings, and that turned out to be all they needed, as the Hooks never seriously threatened.

Erik Castro drew a bases-loaded walk in the 1st to put the Hooks on the board first. However, Kyle Hallock gave up 3 in the bottom of the inning. Raoul Torrez was 2-4 with a pair of RBI singles in the 2nd and the 8th. Enrique Hernandez went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Domingo Santana was 2-2 with a double and a walk.

Hallock only lasted 2 innings, and he gave up 7 runs on 7 hits (solo homer and a grand slam), walked 2, and struck out 1. T.J. Geith pitched 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. In his Hooks debut, Luis Cruz threw a 1-2-3 7th. Cam Lamb threw a 1-2-3 8th.

In the series finale, Mike Foltynewicz will take on Mark Sappington. First pitch is at 6:10.

    High Desert 13, Lancaster 9

Well, the 6-run 8th from the Jethawks wasn't quite enough. They put up 3 in the 1st, but the Mavericks responded with 13 unanswered.

Those 3 runs in the 1st came on a single from Chris Epps, with a 2nd run scoring on an error, and a groundout by Jesse Wierzbicki. Wierzbicki opened the scoring in the 8th with a 2-run homer (2, 8 season), and Dan Gulbransen went back-to-back with a solo shot (3, 6 season). Joe Sclafani doubled, and then Delino DeShields and Carlos Perdomo were plunked to load the bases. Andrew Aplin drew a walk to bring Sclafani home, and then M.P. Cokinos hit a 2-run single. Perdomo went 3-3 with 2 runs scored. Cokinos and Epps had 2 hits apiece.

Brady Rodgers, who appears to have been activated from the DL, went 5 2/3 innings and allowed 6 runs (5 earned, 1 inherited) on 12 hits (11 singles and a double), walked 2 and struck out 7. Blair Walters got shelled in 2/3 of an innings, as he gave up 7 runs (5 earned, 2 inherited) on 6 hits (3 homers), walked 1, and struck out 1. Gerardo Sanchez pitched 2 2/3 scoreless (well, he did allow 2 of the 3 runners he inherited from Walters to score), allowing 2 hits, walking 1, and fanning 4.

The series finale features Colton Cain on the mound as he faces Stephen Landazuri. First pitch is 5:00 Pacific.

    Burlington 6, Quad Cities 4

The Bees scraped across a run in the 8th to give them the separation they needed from the River Bandits.

Rio Ruiz hit a ground-rule double to lead off the 2nd, and he would score the River Bandits' first run on a double from Roberto Peña. In the 7th, Peña scored on a groundout hit by Teoscar Hernandez. QC also got a pair of RBI singles from Carlos Correa and Danry Vasquez. Correa finished 3-3 with 2 doubles and a run scored.

Joe Bircher went 5 innings and allowed 5 runs on 10 hits and walked 1. Jamaine Cotton pitched 2 1/3 and allowed an unearned inherited run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. Pat Christensen struck out 1 as he threw 1 2/3 perfect innings.

Game 3 of this series pits Brian Holmes against Chris O'Grady. First pitch is at 5:00.

    Tri-City 6, Staten Island 3

A 4-run 7th put the ValleyCats firmly in control as they've taken the first 2 of the series.

Ronnie Mitchell drew a walk in the 2nd, and he scored the first run of the game on an error after a Jon Kemmer double. Kemmer himself would score on another error, as Chan-Jong Moon hit into a fielder's choice. He and Kemmer drew walks in the 7th, and a 3rd walk drawn by James Ramsay loaded the bases for Tyler White, who hit a 2-run single. Those were the only 2 RBIs for the ValleyCats in the game. Ramsay scored on a wild pitch, and White wound up scoring on an error.

Kyle Westwood opened with 2 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 3. Troy Scribner pitched the next 5 1/3 innings, and the only run he surrendered was a solo homer to Eric Jagielo in the 6th. Scribner allowed 3 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. Charles Basford got 1 out via strikeout in the 9th, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and walking 1. Tyler Brunnemann faced 2 batters and struck them both out to end the game.

The ValleyCats will look for the sweep, as they send out Kevin Comer. He'll take on Conner Kendrick at 4:00 Eastern.

    Greeneville 6, Pulaski 5

The Appy Astros avoided the sweep and snapped their 4-game losing streak, but they had to hang on a bit at the end.

Angel Ibañez went 2-3 with an RBI single in the 2nd that put Greeneville on the board first. Brian Holberton followed with an RBI double later in the inning. In the 6th, Thomas Lindauer led off with a single and advanced to 3rd on 2 straight balks. Marc Wik and Ibañez walked to load the bases, and then Chase McDonald hit an RBI single. Holberton drew a bases-loaded walk, then Darwin Rivera hit an RBI groundout. And finally, a wild pitch allowed McDonald to score. Ibañez finished 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

Jordan Mills went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Austin Chrismon pitched the final 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 2, and fanned 4.

The Appy Astros move on to Elizabethton, where they'll play 3 starting at 6:00 Eastern. Edison Frias will take on Stephen Gonsalves.

GCL Astros 3, GCL Pirates 2

The Kissimmee Stros walked off with a win as Ydarqui Marte hit an RBI double in the bottom of the 9th.

Brett Clements led off the 3rd with a double and scored the first run of the game on a single from Jose Solano in the 3rd. Marte hit a sac fly in the 4th. Jose Fernandez was 2-4 with a double and scored the winning run.

Luis Ordosgoitti threw 5 shutout innings, allowing a hit, walking 2, and fanning 3. Matt Heidenreich went 2 innings and allowed 2 runs (both on a triple from Austin Meadows) on 2 hits and struck out 2. Zach Dando walked 1 and fanned 2 over 2 scoreless to get the win.

DSL Astros 5, DSL Rays 3

The Academy got a vital insurance run in the 9th as they topped the Rays.

Alex Melendez hit an RBI double in the 2nd to tie the game at 1. Then, he grounded into an RBI force out in the 4th, which resulted in another run scoring, and he ended up reaching on an error. Melendez then stole his way to 3rd and ended up scoring on another error after stealing 3rd. Kristian Trompiz was 2-5.

Harold Arauz went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 7 hits and struck out 3. Yhoan Acosta allowed a hit and struck out 1 in a scoreless 7th, and Angel Heredia allowed a run on 3 hits and struck out 4 to get a 2-inning save.

Ruiz really turned it up in the 2nd half. Glad to see he's finally healthy and producing. Can't wait for him and Correa's 2014 season, should be big for both. I expect both to be in AA by the end of 2014.

We've officially gotten to the point where we have more people who are tearing it up in the farm than I can keep up with.

    A good thing.

Top pitching prospects do battle in Arkansas.

    Inside-the-park homer. By a catcher.

    Recap

    Oklahoma City 5, Albuquerque 4

The Redhawks got a series win under the watchful eye of The Boss himself. They had to hang on for it, though. Alex Freedman also has this nugget:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>2013 RedHawks etch their way into team history again. 5-4 win tonight makes it 15 straight at home to set a new club record. Unreal.</p>&mdash; Alex Freedman (@azfreedman) <a href="https://twitter.com/azfreedman/statuses/369272872641912832">August 19, 2013</a></blockquote>
    <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Che-Hsuan Lin opened the scoring with a 2-run single in the 2nd. George Springer continues his Minor League Domination Tour, as he led off the 4th with a homer (16, 35 season). More from Mr. Freedman:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>George Springer connects on #35 out to the deepest part of Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Now 100 total RBI and 98 total runs scored.</p>&mdash; Alex Freedman (@azfreedman) <a href="https://twitter.com/azfreedman/statuses/369251581650153472">August 19, 2013</a></blockquote>
    <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

With that homer, Springer now leads the Redhawks in home runs. He's played in less than 40% of the team's games.

Now before this gets turned into a "promote him now" post, I'll get back to the game.

Also in the 4th, Jimmy Paredes hit an RBI triple and Lin chipped in with an RBI groundout.

Asher Wojciechowski had a solid night too, as he went 7 1/3 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 inherited) on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. Pat Urckfitz allowed a hit to the only batter he faced. Jason Stoffel allowed a hit that brought Wojo's runner home. He got the final 2 outs of the inning via strikeout. Jorge De Leon allowed a run on 2 hits in the 9th, but was able to close it out.

Game 4 of this 5-game series has Bobby Doran taking on Stephen Fife. First pitch is at 7:05.

Corpus Christi 3, Arkansas 1 in 10 innings

The Hooks took 2 of 3, thanks to some clutch hitting from Erik Castro, who had a 3-5 night.

Before that, Enrique Hernandez hit a solo homer (12) in the 6th to tie the game at 1. With the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 10th, Castro put the Hooks in the lead with a 2-run single.

Mike Foltynewicz faced Mark Sappington in a matchup of pitchers who rank among the top prospects in their systems. Folty went 6 and allowed a run on 2 hits (all of which occurred in the 1st) and struck out 4. R.J. Alaniz, fresh off the DL, threw 3 scoreless. He allowed a hit, walked 2, and fanned 1. Jonas Dufek allowed a hit in the bottom of the 10th, but shut the door, striking out 1.

The Hooks will have Monday off, and then they'll be back in action on Tuesday, when they host Midland for 4 games.

    Lancaster 9, High Desert 3

The Jethawks also took 2 of 3 in their series, as Tyler Heineman decided to have a show of power.

Heineman got things started with an RBI triple in the 2nd. He would score on an error. In the 5th, Nolan Fontana hit a 2-run triple. Fontana reached on a force attempt in the 7th, and an error allowed Jesse Wierzbicki to score. The Mavs were trying to force him out, as the bases were loaded. Carlos Perdomo followed with a sac fly, and M.P. Cokinos hit a 2-run single. Heineman led off the bottom of the 8th with an inside-the-park homer (13). It's the 2nd time that Heineman has rounded the bases without hitting a ball out of the park this season. He and Joe Sclafani had 2 hits apiece.

Colton Cain went 6 1/3 and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. Jordan Jankowski recorded a strikeout as he got the final 2 outs of the 7th. Kenny Long got 2 outs in the 8th, striking out 1, and Travis Ballew walked 1 and struck out 2 in the final 1 1/3 as he closed it out.

The Jethawks will also have Monday off, and then they'll be in Lake Elsinore for 3 starting Tuesday.

    Quad Cities 3, Burlington 2

The River Bandits walked off to snap a 5-game losing streak. They needed the win in a huge way, as Clinton was creeping up on them a bit. The man of the evening was Rio Ruiz, who led off the bottom of the 9th with his 10th home run of the season.

Teoscar Hernandez led off the 3rd with a walk. He was caught stealing 2nd, but the throw down was dropped. He then advanced to 3rd on a Tony Kemp flyout, then scored the first run of the evening on a groundout from Carlos Correa. Jobduan Morales hit a solo homer (2) in the 4th to put QC up 2-1. Hernandez wound up being the only Bandit in the lineup without a hit.

Brian Holmes went 5 1/3 and allowed an unearned run on 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. Zach Morton struck out 1 as he threw 2 2/3 perfect innings. Juan Minaya couldn't close it out in the 9th, as he allowed the tying run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. The River rectified that situation, though.

In game 3, Mark Appel will make his penultimate start of the 2013 season as he takes on Pat Lowery. First pitch is at 7:00.

    Staten Island 3, Tri-City 2 in 11 innings

The ValleyCats couldn't finish the sweep as they walked off with a loss.

Mike Martinez hit a 2-run homer (11) in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 2. Conrad Gregor, who scored on the homer, was 1-3 with 2 walks. D'Andre Toney was 1-4 with a steal (10).

Kevin Comer threw 3 2/3 scoreless, allowing 3 hits, walking 2, and fanning 5. Evan Grills went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits and struck out 1. Richard Rodriguez allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2/3 of an inning (3rd out of the 8th, 1st out of the 9th). Gonzalo Sanudo threw 1 2/3 perfect innings and fanned 2. Tyler Brunnemann got an out in the 11th, but served up a solo homer to Eric Jagielo to end it.

The ValleyCats have a home-and-away series with Vermont sandwiched between another series with Staten Island; 2 in Troy and 2 in Vermont.

Tri-City will be at home first; TBA will be opposed by Kyle Finnegan. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

    Elizabethton 5, Greeneville 2 in 8 innings

The Appy Astros surrendered 4 in the bottom of the 7th to drop this rain-shortened affair.

Angel Ibañez drew a bases-loaded walk in the 5th to tie the game at 1, and Chase McDonald hit an RBI single in the 7th to put Greeneville on top. Tanner Mathis was 2-3 and scored both Greeneville runs. That lead didn't last, though.

Edison Frias went 6 innings and allowed a run on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. Kevin Ferguson bore the brunt of the Appy Twins' assault in the 7th, as he allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in the inning. Sebastian Kessay allowed a single to the first man he faced in the 8th, before the game was called.

In the middle game of the series, Frederick Tiburcio will take on Hein Robb. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Yea, it is definitely a pretty awesome/intense league. I found it randomly on a post the league's commissioner put up on Crawfish Boxes. Almost 2 years later, and I've spent way too much time on this league! My line of thinking is just like yours on the Correa over Lindor pick, and being a huge Astros fan only made it easier. I also saw a picture of Correa and Lindor in front of some a batting cage on Baseball America I think, and that only reaffirmed my decision, as Correa towered over Lindor and made Lindor look like a kid (and Correa in only 18!). I also think that I've assembled one of the top minor league systems in the league (14 team league): Jurickson Profar, Puig (who I've promoted to my big league roster), Tony Cingrani (who I've promoted to my big league roster), Carlos Correa, Oswaldo Arcia, Robert Stephenson, Noah Syndergaard, Maikel Franco, Josh Bell, and Mike Foltyniewicz.

With the way our rules are set up, Profar, Puig, Cingrani, and Arcia will lose their minor league eligibility (based on ABs and IPs), so I'll lose a bunch of talent there. I've offset that by planning ahead and trading for 2 additional 1st round minor league picks, which gives me 3 total at the moment, and I've been pushing hard to get a 4th one.

Sorry if this isn't the best place for this fantasy baseball talk, I know there is another forum for fantasy talk, but since my original question involved Correa, I thought I'd get better feedback. But please let me know if I should stop or please move if necessary.

Very cool, do they ever have new openings? I'd love to get in a league like that. Where do y'all play the league online? What site?

Did you know that Carlos Correa is currently leading the Midwest League in average and OPS? He's also 3rd in slugging percentage among players who are still in the league.
