Jeff Green is overrated and they needed Perkins at the time, plus he'll prove to be valuable again since he's just about the only player in the league that gives Howard trouble.

To me the Perkins deal was fine if they truly, truly believed he was going to be fully healthy. And that luck simply transpired against the team. The issue was more his failing health following the trade/extension more than the trade itself.

As for Harden, I still maintain that Presti should've been able to hold off on a deal if he wasn't going to get value. If teams weren't willing to pony up high lottery picks, then you hang on to him for another year and trade him(as RFA) later for more value.

They traded Jeff Green so Harden and Ibaka could develop. Don't forget, the trade for Perkins is what made them take off. They started winning a much higher % of their games right after the trade.

Well imagine if they would have dealt Westbrook and Green for CP3. Then dealt Ibaka and Harden for D12. If you had a big 3 of KD,CP3, and D12 they would have been better than the Heat and nobody would have had a chance.

no mention of Nenad Krstic? the dude was a servicable center for OKC and had to be traded along with Jeff Green to match salaries

In all fairness, Simmons has been really pushing the Presti-is-slipping angle all year, and people do listen to Simmons.

The idea behind the Perkins acquisition was fine. At the time they thought that dealing with Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum was the biggest thing standing between them and a title, Ibaka can't do that. Giving up Green for him was really not THAT bad.

The bigger problem has been their insistence on sticking with him for so many minutes regardless of the matchup they're facing, especially when Nick Collison (somewhat out of nowhere) became such a valuable dirty-work weapon in any game he didn't have to play man defense against an attacking big.

perkin was decent with boston, but never found his game in OKC. In fact he got worst after signing a big fact contract. OKC needed a defensive minded big man in the middle, shoulda traded green to chicago for asik lol.

Green was awful and PF for the Thunder. He was specially horrid on defense.
