You should go to wikipedia and look up straw-manning and ad hominem. The fact that you resort to such pathetic tactics suggests that perhaps you don't have a lot of confidence in your ability to argue the issues. This thread has a very simple premise. What should we expect from our superstars? I've laid out my opinion on THAT issue very clearly. I'm not attempting to generate character issues about Harden. Their are very few true leaders in this world and if the Rockets' want to win a championship title they need their stars to also be leaders. And that's what really makes a star into a superstar. Also this thread isn't just about Harden. It's about Harden and Howard and what they need to show next season, in my opinion, to give us confidence that they can take the Rockets to an NBA title. Like I said before, I think both of them have it in them to take the next step. Harden will mature as he grows and gains experience and his judgement and decision making will improve. I have confidence in that. I also think Howard will do his best to prove to everyone that he is a team player. I've raised valid points. Rather than actually discuss the issue you want to attack me personally which is weaksauce 101. If you don't have the bottle to debate the issues on the points that you disagree with me on and just want to troll/derail/attack me personally, then I'm not interested in wasting my time on you so keep crying about me or whatever.
Instead of quoting Jetfuel's nonstop barrage of: 'Mchale and Sampson are stupid, prejudiced, and are out to systematically destroy his confidence' or 'Harden only passes with 3 secs left on the clock'... here's a small sample of direct responses to a few of his posts. So you can see why I think this dude's posts seem disingenuous, and how he's one over many of our hearts. Question Lin's lack of character or championship mentality and he'd probably flip out on you. This is something Houston fans should not tolerate!
And yes, I do think Harden and Dwight have leadership character and a championship mentality. As do Lin, Parsons, Asik, Beverley, and Garcia. Dwight led a team to the finals and Harden led this team to the playoffs. Was that even a question, or were you just trying to take them down a notch?
Harden is not a superstar yet. He has the tools, but not quite there. Howard needs to tighten up his postgame before make him a superstar. I expect Harden to stop forcing shots and trying to hard to draw fouls, also add a solid midrange game. Howard needs a reliable jump hook.
Feel bad for op. he has already damaged his reputation from past posts otherwise this might actually be a real topic
Kobe is an awful leader (singular focus on winning, generally disliked and gets on with no one unless they accept being treated like a b****, doesn't make anyone around him better, has that "i'll just do it myself" mentality to extreme levels, socially isolated, really all he needs is a mask and his own Baltic republic and he's Dr Doom), hasn't stopped him winning titles, but then he also had PJ who can cover for pretty much any leadership hole. Yao on the other hand was supposedly a great leader and only saw the 2nd round once.
Yup. It's kinda hard to forget the posters who make the game threads less enjoyable than they used to be.
if this thread is asking what their stats should be then I think the team should follow somewhat the Thunder blueprint of scoring when Harden was in OKC. Lin (Ibaka): 11ppg, 7.2apg, 2.5rpg Harden (Durant): 27ppg, 6.3apg, 4.5rpg Parsons (Harden): 15ppg, 3.5apg, 5.5rpg Jones (Perkins): 7ppg, 1apg, 6rpg Howard (Westbrook): 22ppg, 2.3apg, 13.6rpg Bench 20ppg
I expect both to be the best in the league at their respective positions. If both can crack top 5 players in the league we will have a great shot at winning a chip whether it be this season or the near future.
To lead this team deep into the playoffs and/or win a chip this season. Harden will lead us in scoring (offensive leader) 26/5/5 with 1.8 steals. Howard will be our defensive leader. He will be our 2nd leading scorer 21/13/3 with 2.7 blocks a game. Parson will be our 3rd leading scorer 16/7/4 Lin our 4th leading scorer 14/4/9 with 1.6 steals. Record 55-27
I'm not gonna debate with you about harden even though I think he's a superstar and even lebron said he was too plus many others. With that said he's only 23 so I can get it you gotta do it longer to be a superstar. Now dwight Howard is most certainly a superstar. He's taking his team to the chip he been the best big man for te past 5 yrs and he's the only big in the game who impacts the game like a true superstar (lebron,Kobe, durant, wade).
I agree with you 100%. Now some people definition of a Superstar is totally different. Some believe a player has to play at that level for more than one year. However, LeBron, Durant, Melo, Wade and others were called Superstars after their 1st year by many.
