Instant information. The ability to scan products and immediately get the cheapest price for those items online. The ability to scan brazilian females and get fed perfect pickup lines based on cultural preferences and body type. The cyberpunk era is here my friends. Rejoice! :)

The cyborg revolution is coming. ;)

Really, think about it. We want to be connected 24/7. We change clothes every day, we take off accessories when we get home from work. Wearables may have their place, but it'll come down to implants. I don't know how long it will take. There will be resistance to it. Implanting procedures will need to become quick, cheap, and painless. Likely one or two implant areas on the body with interchangeable modules to interface with them to accomplish different goals.

The short-term / interim future will be wearables. Longer term will be implants. Beyond that will be integration at the cellular/nano level. I doubt we'll even look like current humans by that point.

Is the technology complex? I was assuming the typical players like Apple, Samsung, whoever - were just waiting for it to takeoff before introducing something better?

supposedly the LCOS involved doesn't have too many players, and HIMX is the leader in it all, that's why google bought 6% of the company bc they want them to ramp up the LCOS capablities and they're going from 2M units/quarter to 25M/quarter that's why the stock intrigued me, its actually up today

Maybe it's just because I haven't had any caffeine this AM, but I see this stuff as a cool but impracticle tech. Kind of like 3D TV.

    Pestimistic?

You have a valid concern about it..

But this covers a wider range of stuff out in the real world as opposed to your tv in your living room hurting your eyes bc of some pseudo 3d

Also, how can this technology be used by stalkers and perverts?

    Asking for a friend.

    I'm also interested in knowing.

Writing a research paper on this subject.

Looks like a double top on the the chart and a possible pullback to $5 a share. But they seem to pay a nice dividend.
    Nice find.

Force yourself to watch the first 45 minutes of a movie called VHS. It's pretty bad, but it will answer your, I mean your friend's, question.

Its seems in my (somewhat limited) perspective on things

That when there's talk of "REVOLUTION" in how we live and integrate in a "new horizon" of innovation, that its almost always underwhelming or falls short of expected result.

I think its because people project TOO FAR into future of what it could ULTIMATELY mean, instead of what it IS for just the NEXT step. But though change now is much more rapid than its been before, its still not quite as "overnight" as it might seem.

There's a warm-up period and then kinks have to be worked out. Lots of times products don't much past that point and fall out of favor. Something like Google Chromecast is a more simplistic add-on feature. WEARING Google Chromecast/Glass on the body to handle your daily functions, that can be sensory overload

I think wearable computing really is next logical progression and there will be some practical use. If its about the money, that seems a good money bet. But for those prognosticator people who WANT the SOCIAL climate to be "advanced" and hyper-geeked out to their vision, they'll have to wait a couple more generations for that.

shroopy, google glass originally was rumored to be $1500, but now they're saying it will be $299-399 which will make it very affordable and why i think it will be a smash hit. Now as far as the running costs? Nobody mentions that, but i imagine at home, your wifi will be fine but if you want to wear them in public you're probably going to need some type of data plan like the iphone? Or maybe you can tether from you phone?

    Anyone know about that???

Not sure how it will work, but it seems like tethering these to a phone should be relatively simple and cost nothing extra on top of your data plan. Wouldn't be surprised though if the carriers find a way to demand another $30-40/month just for these. This is where T-Mobile and Sprint could step in and prevent Verizon and AT&T from price gouging.
