It can definitely work, Dwight has enough foot speed to guard PF's. He can operate outside the paint and face up or have Asik clear and stablish deep position depending on matchups.

Howard has spent his career having success at the center position. Asking him to play PF now would be a mistake, imo. He would have trouble defending opposing PF's.

So you are saying that having DH12 and Asik in the game at the same time would be a DEFENSIVE LIABILITY? In what universe?

So, which one of the two will be in charge of shooting 3s? :)

I remember watching as we had success with Smith and Asik starting last year. And then also success with Asik and Motiejunas. Throwing Howard in for either Dmo or Smith is a huge upgrade on both sides of the floor.

Both Asik and Howard are solid at shutting down the pick and roll because they can show on the guard and get back well. Think of having the other guy just waiting at the rim as a secondary line of defense.

Just let them play the first 4-5 minutes of each half together. We should have enough offense in the starting lineup to win games.

Howard must have privately agreed to this or Morey wouldn't have went public with it. Plus, this doesn't have to be for long stretches, just enough for Asik to get his minutes.

If an offense can have Kevin Willis at PF, then so can Dwight. That said, I'd prefer a different Center with him like Willis had, like say, Alonzo Mourning or Hakeem Olajuwon... ;)

I very much prefer we don't try to change Dwight too much to suit Asik.

Neither of these fools are gonna be taking many threes. But Asik has shown (on a few occasions) that he has the makings of a decent jump shot. With a work ethic like his, I expect it to improve. He'll just clean up the glass and be the 5th option on offense.

I saw Asik hit that little 17 foot jumper a couple of times this past season. Who knows? Maybe he'll improve his shooting and he can space the floor a bit? Not likely, but his stroke looked pretty solid on his makes. I don't think I ever saw him miss that jumper!

I never understood why anyone assumed when they played together Asik would play PF, he could NEVER play PF. Howard on the other hand makes much more sense at the PF than Asik.

I hope they can make it work, we would dominate in the paint and the glass if they can get the spacing right.

I think If Dwight Howard improves his offense enough, then we can definitely get away with playing both of them at the same time.

As long as it's DH12 playing the 4 spot.

Well actually I think it changes a lot. If you noticed, the position is that DH is the PF and Asik is the C, while most of the theories here had DH going at C instead of PF. To mean this is a big deal because:

    1) Asik is really a center, not a PF
    2) DH is really a PF cosplaying as a center because today's centers are horrible

In short, DH is someone who can run and finish on the break or whom we can ask to roam around the paint chasing both Post up PFs and stretch 4 around. I don't think the offense will suffer as much people say, for example Marc Gasol and ZBO are both low post big men and they co-exist just fine, it really all depends on what the offensive gameplan is.
