all the said stats are inflated due to the fact that in the 2nd half of last season Casspi mostly played late in blowouts. and he played that garbage time with his A game (which is not saying a lot) while his opponents barely cared or bothered to defend anyone. That's why I said the ok-ish PER stats are lying. Had the OP actually seen the games he would know. same goes for the urban legend about Casspi's weight. you can't spin me into believing he was in shape last year because i saw him with my own eyes and he was chubby +. Now I don't know what happened to him AFTER the season had ended. I haven't seen the israeli national team practice games so far. I'll check it out once the actual tournament starts.

Why would he play only 8 minutes a night? I read an article about Casspi's transition to Houston,it was written that Casspi was the first guy Rockets wanted to sign after they had Dwight Howard signed to play for them in the upcoming season, in addition, coach Kevin McHale was interested in Casspi last year as well,he wanted a trade which will include Casspi in it but Cleveland demanded too much for him,as a matter of fact,McHale has been following Casspi since he entered this league,I remember him also interviewing Casspi and Tyreke Evans and I remember he said he is following Casspi.

I don't believe Casspi will play only 8 minutes a night,Casspi is a legitimate NBA player and should be a decent replacement for Chandler Parsons,on the paper,Casspi is better than both Reggie Williams and Cisco Garcia, now he only needs to prove it on the court,if he manages to repeat his rookie season it would be great both for him and both for the Rockets,I believe he still got it in him, after all if he wasn't talented enough he wouldn't make it to the best league in the world.

I believe Casspi can be an important factor in Houston Rockets.

What is the point you are making? I think 8 minutes is not sufficient. 15-20 + minutes and more if someone is injured should be realistic. After all he is one of the veterans of a very young team (if you count in Camby: still 8-10th youngest team) (Top 5 youngest team without Camby)

I'm not delusional that's the fact,Mr. McHale admitted it himself.
And yes on the paper Casspi is better than both Garcia and Williams,I'm yet to know how Casspi will manage to perform this season though.

But it will be great if Casspi will display sparks from his rookie season in this upcoming season, then arrogant people like you will eat their hat.

Wow, some nice highlights, he seems to be a great passer.
    Tough luck on those misses.

I thought I was the only one that was happy with the rockets current bench. I have a feeling that Casspi and Williams had down years simply because of where they were playing and their talents will fit with the offensive scheme perfectly. if I am wrong and neither seem to get back to hitting wide open threes then I am sure Morey will shake things up, he always does. but if I am right and Casspi/Williams are able to revive their careers then the rockets will have one of the deepest teams in the league with the ability to go big or small that will cause any team match-up hell.

please tone down your expectations.... I don't wanna see a bunch of "trade cassipi" threads during the season because you guys were expecting him to be a 6th man of the year contender

Look I don't think that in this current stage of Casspi's young career in the NBA that he can be a starter nor a sixth man,but I don't reject the opinion he might be in the future.

It's no secret Casspi struggled in the last 3 years, played bad in Sacramento and was even worse in Cleveland, after his abortive tenure with the Cavs the idea of returning to the Kings didn't even sound bad at all.
Casspi had a hard time to adapt to Cleveland and to the Cavs style of play,I can't say he didn't get a fair chance to do so in his first year in Cleveland where he failed to perform on a high level, but in his second year he was totally erased and ignored by coach Scott,Scott's man was Alonzo Gee.

I assume all Casspi needed is to be a part of a contender team,on a winning team,he might break out as a decent player,he might just be a mediocre player and he might be a disappointment.
    Only time will tell,my friend.

Cassapi is perfect fill in if Parsons gets a serious injury

I can see him filing in perfectly. Better shooter than Parsons and plays well off the ball

    Thanks, Junkie - Good stuff!

I loved the play on 1:35 in the video!
(5:10 to play in the 3rd)
Note how Omri starts it with the long pass
and 3 seconds later finishes it as a trailer
(With a pass from Lior Eliyahu - technically a Rocket too :))

Another report - this time after the match with Belgium
(who will meet the Israelis in the actual Eurobasket in 2 weeks)

A very bad game for the Israeli national team.
They lost 77:59 and didn't look good
(except for a decent Q1 they pretty much sucked...)

As always, Casspi led the team in scoring, with 18 points
    (Not with very good %...)

Omri was active in D, but the rest of the team mostly
looked like they were wandering aimlessly in the paint...

    Summary after 6 games:
    Casspi's ppg average is 19.17
    (scored 14,22,20,24,17,18)
No other statistics provided in last 3 games.
(In 1st 3 games his rpg average was 10.0)

Did people just join clutch fans because of Casspi

Did people just joined clutch fans because of the signing of Casspi. Casspi is looking more like Jeremy lin 2.0 on clutch fans.
Well I'm a Lin fan and a Rocket fan before Lin joined. I hope Casspi does well for Rockets as well. If so Rockets can become a very scary team. Along with Lin and Parson improving, and Dwight Howard being hungry to win.

The last time a FA vet-minimum signing that ended up sucking and resulted in "a bunch of trade threads" on GARM was never.

He does play with passion. Once he settles in his role,he should do well.
He needs encouragement to shine again.
