everybody in the nba would take a 2 time allstar, all nba third team guy in his prime than 3 "role" players. The thing with advanced stats, sabermetrics, etc is this...to paraphrase paul depodesta in moneyball...."if the a's had a bottomless pocketbook, they wouldn't need to get edge with sabermetrics because it doesnt take a stat geek to know that (at the time) guys like jason giambi or derek jeter or alfonso soriano can hit"
I agree. Atlanta is the #5 or #6 seed in the East. Not sure why they aren't widely projected as such. Paul Millsap is at least as productive, if not more so, as Josh Smith. Ant half the price!
Yeah I'm pretty sure they would want D-Mo. But i'm starting to doubt Morey will want to get another star. I think the Rockets are done going after superstars, I think they just want to stay with their two superstars with Harden and Dwight. It's too much money to have a big three, and if they waste money on another star there wouldn't be enough money to build around them or enough money to re-sign Harden and Dwight in the future. I'm sure that's why they backed away from the Josh Smith deal and from Ryan Anderson. I think they're staying with this team and just rebuild around Harden and Dwight with solid role players.
Lin to Sixers for the highest draft pick they can get Asik + Jones + Sixers pick + 2 rox first round picks for LMA this is a lot but I think that is what it would take for the rockets to get LMA. then we would have to convince LMA to take less money in order to extend Parsons.
Do we really need a superstar PF like Kevin Love or LMA ? I don't think so. I think Amir Johnson is a good choice. Trade Lin & Dmo for Lowry & Johnson
I agree with the first part, but Dmo fits better than Johnson and Lowry=Lin. We'd have to gget more back. This is a very lateral move (something okay when trading bench guys, but not starters). I'll give you credit for posting something reasonable, even if I don't agree with it.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kagkubt A 1st round pick from us and a 2nd round pick from Cleveland would be sent to Sac-Town. Why CLE does it: Helps them clear cap space to make run at LeBron or Carmelo. Why PHI does it: Lin and Asik would help their young talent. Plus if they do indeed get Wiggins, you have a core to build around in Wiggins, Lin, Asik, Turner, and Thad. Why SAC does it: They could trade Marcus Thornton to make PT for McLemore or they could keep all 3 guards like we all know they would. Why HOU does it: We get a nice PF in Thompson. Great backup 5 play from Varajao and a solid PG in Isaiah Thomas. While Canaan would develop in D-League, we could see if Isaiah Thomas is worth bringing back, if not, we have Canaan who would look to be a nice fit on the team.
Hate to post twice in a row, but ideas are popping into my head like crazy. TRADE #1 Going to Boston: Ryan Anderson and Isaiah Canaan plus a future first round pick from Houston Going to New Orleans: Omer Asik and a 1st rounder from Boston Going to Houston: Brandon Bass and Avery Bradley TRADE #2: Going to Cleveland: Wilson Chandler and Donatas Motiejunas Going to Philadelphia: Jeremy Lin Going to Denver: A 1st Round pick from Houston in the 2014 draft Going to Houston: Anderson Varajao and Andre Miller plus a 2016 first round pick from Philly. Line-up Miller/Bev/Thomas Harden/Bradley Parsons/Garcia/Covington (or Casspi) Bass/T-Jones/ Howard/Varajao/Camby We would cut: Reggie Williams and Greg Smith
BINGO!!! 2014 1st round pick from Houston and 2016 1st round pick from Minny to Portland. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n9xhocj
Doesn't make sense since minny signed pek. Also on the other trades. Houston won't send out draft picks. That is what they sold Dwight on, the best future to keep upgrading every yr. not selling out the future
Pek can play 4. 2nd of all, I am sure Dwight wouldn't care about losing picks if it meant K-Love would be with him in the frontcourt. Just sayin...
This isn't really correct, yes $ball was developed to even the playing field against big spenders but nobody says you can be rich and not use it, this is esp. true in the NBA because we have a salary cap and limited NBA slots. The only time $ball wouldn't be useful is if we had unlimited $$$, unlimited rosters and unlimited players, because then you'll sign everybody and play your own league.
Henson is very much on the Bucks' no trade list , they're only moving him if they can cash in on a James Harden type player. But there is something that might work with the Bucks, given that they really have no PG at this point that can run an offense, but do have some cap and roster flexibility and useful pieces. Rockets get Ersan Ilyasova Chuck Hayes Bucks Second Bucks get Isaiah Thomas Jimmer Fredett Dmo John Salmon Rockets second Kings protected first Kings get Omer Asik Brandon Knight Khris Middleton Rockets first This make some sense for all the party involved, for the King it clears them excess log jam at several position and give them a guy they can actually build a functional defense around while pushing Cousins to 4. For the Rockets it gets them a stretch 4 and a good backup C. and for the Bucks it gets them an actual functional PG that can really do some things on offense, a stop gap at the 3, and 2 interesting guys that can do some things on offense, so their plan is basically just to build a defense around Sanders / Henson and surround them with guys that can create some offense.
Obviously the NBA has limited cap and roster space. You're missing the point from the original argument which is this: why should we go after LMA as opposed to a guy who might "fit" the roster better and add "value" from a salary perspective? Because the championship model, as proven by the celtics and the heat, is you put 3 of the top tier players in the league and it'll win you (or get you real close to winning) a championship. Howard, Harden, and LMA (Lin too) would be that trio combined with an already superb supporting cast. And I bring this up b/c the Rockets right now, have the means, assets, cap, etc to do this.
nice trade but Lowry and coach KMH did work well together the first time. Why do it a second time? Lin is a better team fit now with Howard IMO. Johnson is a nice fit with our team so: DMo, G Smith and 2nd round pick 2014 (or DMo & Cannon) (or DMo & 1st round pick 2015) (or DMo & Garcia - Raptors send a 2nd round pick 2014 back - at trade deadline) for Amir Johnson
