Dieting may be the quickest way to lose weight, but diet and exercise together is the most effective.

But to be quicker and jump higher, jogging's not gonna really help at all. Do some high intensity workouts incorporating different plyometric exercises, as well as weights.

I don't think we should be too picky when it comes to exercise honestly. Considering many people in America live sedentary lifestyles, ANY type of exercise is gonna be better than nothing. Personally I'd rather be outside going on a jog, a bike ride, playing basketball and countless other activities then stuck inside a gym lifting weights. To be out in the open, breathing in some fresh air on a nice sunny day....it's hard to beat that.

I'm assuming the OP wants to be a sick kunt. I hate cardio but I love sprints.
I got faster by doing lunges, sprints, and squats. OP is already skinny as it is (prob skinny fat stomach)...but hey! lifting weights is a skill you have to learn. I hated lifting weights because I would wear myself out and that fatigue and frustration. you have to know your CNS and know when to go heavy and lighter.

My problem was Lifting too heavy, not eating right and even when eating right, sucky ass genetics and losing motivation easily, playing video games for 5-8 hours a day, just eating cereal night and day. Then I became a ****** and that's a whole different era.

Zyzz taught me aesthetics and what exercises to do
Kelly baggett taught me how run and jump
hodge twins gives great advice and that you don't have to go heavy
    Jeff seid on supplements.

calorie counting is meaningless (and impossible). Your body uses energy for things like brain function and maintaining body temperature making it impossible to calculate how much you are burning. Your body will also adjust to a lack of energy (aka exercise and starving yourself) by using less energy. A proper diet is how you burn fat.

Just don't eat at night. Eat very little dinner. You'd be surprised at how much that helps. Go to bed hungry. You'll start losing it bro.

Also, do situps/pushups every night before you go to bed.

Calorie counting is still helpful in that you're still completely aware of how many calories you are intaking. A proper diet is sometimes not enough. Everyone's body handles dieting and exercise differently.
I'd say that's a myth. But of course, I've also said everyone's body handles dieting differently.

your body adjusts to how many calories u take in. Number of calories eatin means nothing. It is what u eat that matters.

read the first 2 paragraphs of this and you will understand all u need to know about fat loss.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insulin

The way you lose fat is to have low insulin levels.

Yeah, calories in and calories out stuff gives a very basic approach to diet and weight loss...its much more complicated than that because there is so much more to weight loss than just calories.

Another tip is to eat 5 small meals a day, rather than 2-3 normal meals. Start your day with 20 grams of protein within 45 minutes of waking up.

If you go too long of a period without eating, your body starts going into energy saving mode and your metabolism slows down. However, if you eat lots of small meals/snacks, your metabolism speeds up and that will help with weight control. Therefore, you can take in the same number of calories each day with either method, but the 5 small meal method will help you lose weight. That's why the calorie counting thing is bogus...because it's what you eat and when you eat that matters.

Tallanover is right...insulin levels are huge, specially for belly fat. Things like almonds, low fat yogurt, lean proteins, etc...that will go a long way as far as losing some weight and getting healthy.

Calorie awareness may be a better term. Whatever the name, it is vital for people with poor eating habits to have a better understanding of what they consume.

Regarding eating late in the day (or even at night), that is one of the biggest myths ever. The reason eating late is usually bad is because the calories consumed are unnecessary. In other words, snacking, munching and gobbling calorie bombs after dinner will put the pounds on. Eating dinner late will not.

What is HIIT and how do I do it?

And I already play basketball, not as often as I should/could, but I do play fairly often.

Again, please explain what HIIT is.

Also, if I want to slim down (just a bit) , will I have to give up junk food completely? I don't eat junk food a lot, but would I have to go on a soda/candy/chip - free diet ?

Also, it's strange. I don't look fat, but my chest/stomach has a bit more fat than I want. Same for my lower body (self explanatory). How do I get rid of the fat present in these areas?

And what are some things I can do at home(while i wait for my gym membership) that will help me slim down and gain muscle?

Like I said, I'm 180, 6 ft tall, in my late teens, but when I play pick up ball at the park against older men, they make me look very small. And they can easily back me down. i want to change that.

Thanks for the legit answers, keep them coming please.

Something else that I will do is to not drink juice at home. I may occasionally (once a week at most) drink some juice if I'm out at the store, but at home, I think I'm going to start drinking strictly water.

    That'll make a big difference I assume?

HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training

A simple example is sprinting for 15-30 seconds, then walking/jogging for a minute to a minute and a half. Repeat for duration of session. Usually want to keep HIIT sessions less than 30 min... 20-25 min is plenty.

Everyone wants a better physique, nobody wants to put in the work. It really depends how important it is to you and how bad you want it. That being said, if I were you I'd cut junk food out of my diet except for maybe a once-weekly cheat meal/day. Soda and candy are the worst... chips are pretty bad too, but at least they have some nutritional value.

There's no way to spot-reduce the fat in your problem areas. You need to drop your overall body fat % and increase your muscle mass. Diet and exercise.

    Home workouts: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/top-5-home-workouts-from-forum.html

If you're in your late teens, now is the best time to get in the gym. You should be able to make good progress A LOT faster than the older guys. If you want to be able to not get backed down so easily, I'd suggest you start focusing on lower body work. Squats and deadlifts.
