Monsters of Rock 1988 .. Van Halen , Metallica ,Scorpions , Dokken and someone else I can't remember ... maybe Great White ?
I saw the VU open for U2 on the Zooropa tour in Paris. I also saw Def Leppard open for Blackfoot at the Music Hall.
To be fair, the term hair metal was intended as a derogatory term for all '80s hard rock. Oh, and hair metal rules \m/
I believe I was at that show(at Rice stadium). Kingdom Come was the last act. Damn that feels so long ago. I seem to recall it was hot as hell. I also remember my friend approached and spoke with Lars Ulrich...who found it fun to walk around in the halls with a bodyguard trailing him back in the day. I also seem to recall a funny moment where a local DJ (from KLOL I think) was on stage between acts and was announcing upcoming local concerts She said Rod Stewart and everyone booed. Then she goes "guess you'll dont like rod Stewart". You think?
Yes it was very hot and they were using fire hoses on the crowd ... I remember they had plastic on the field and at one point there was like 3 inches of water , so between bands there were people throwing wet shirts around , turned into a huge battle between the people on the field and those in the stands .. it was all in good fun and everyone was having a blast .
I've read that thread 3 times and listened to the song twice....and I still have no idea what's going on.
U2......I don't get the appeal....a couple songs are ok.....but I like all other classic rock and 80s music almost.....
I dont get Amy Winehouse Lady Gaga Green Day Coldplay Pitbull White Stripes The Strokes Mumford and Sons The Cure Queens of the Stone Age Muse U2, they have good songs, but I dont get all the hype around them. Techno/House music. Reggaeton
Mothertruckin' KINGDOM COME!!! Hamsters of Rock! They almost put GnR on that bill, would have been even more chaos. Poor Dokken came out after Metallica had blown the PA!
Coldplay ACDC Michael Jackson Lynard Skynard- two good songs, one has been way overplayed (Sweet Home Alabama) the other one was done better by Shinedown (simple man) Don't understand why people hate Nickleback. They put out great records after another constistantly! Not my favorite band ever (Breaking Benjamin is) but I'm a huge NB fan!
I'll add all rap post like 2005 except for Eminem. And most country is terrible also... That new Blake Shelton song- boys round here- is mockery of everything music should be!
I never got Amy Winehouse until after her death...seeing a show when she was healthier looking. Wow, knocked me out of my chair. I guess the good ones die young....
