What do you mean by Africans? Do you mean black? Do you mean white? Do you mean Arab? Do you mean Muslim? Do you mean sub-Saharan? Do you mean a specific tribe or ethnicity?
I mean black. I've said this time and time again in multiple threads. I'm not going to explain the same thing over and over again. Nothing has changed. Refer back through previous threads if you are curious.
Well I haven't kept up with your beliefs. I studied a bit of African and Nigerian history when I was at UT. I had an amazing professor for it....Toyin Falola. I also took an African-American studies class when I was there after reading a John McWhorter book. I was left underwhelmed with the course to say the least. Anyhow, I guess I'll just read thru the thread since I've only glanced at it. Sorry.
Apology not need but still accepted I'm sorry if I came off kinda short....it can just be a tad irritating when posters ask the same questions. I may or may not have explained it in this thread (honestly can't remember) but I know I've answered that question in recent related threads.
In a civilization and society built and predominately populated by whites, where the hell do you think jobs, infrastructure, educational enrichment and legal protection comes from? What exactly would the point of blacks' advocating Civil Rights legislation been if not to compel the white power structure to adhere to its own founding principles and support blacks as well as they'd supported their own? You can't process this because like your lazy ignorance about the continent you delusionally identify with, you don't understand the basic workings of the very society you operate in beyond your ****ing stoop.
Well I read thru the thread and I am glad I did to hear about Deji's experiences. Amaru, I have to say is you seem like a young guy and you shouldn't close your mind off. It was disappointing to see you dismiss Deji's points as irrelevant fluff when their meaning was obvious. Whether you want to admit it or not, you and I are both Americans. We both have our different ancestry and different backgrounds, but we are Americans. We aren't Shoshone or Aztec or Maya or Iroquois or Aleutian or whatever pre-European culture you want to mention. You and I are both products of the American experience and we are Americans to every other culture in the world. I'd also advise you to keep an open mind in your further studies about various African cultures. It is a very diverse continent full of different cultures, histories, and religions. You shouldn't refer to a whole continent as if it one culture. The same thing goes for when you reference Europe and Europeans. It is intellectually lazy to do so. You seem to be dismissive and shut off to reality when it differs from what you want to believe. That is disappointing to see. I hope you find whatever you are looking for in your self discovery, but try to always grow and keep an open mind.
Wow....so you feel that without "the white man" you wouldn't have your trinkets. Yea, there is no point in me continuing to debate with you. I pity you Pouch....I'm so sorry. All bull**** aside, I feel sorry for you.
Amaru, I have to say is you seem like a young guy and you shouldn't close your mind off. It was disappointing to see you dismiss Deji's points as irrelevant fluff when their meaning was obvious. I wouldn't say my mind is shut....if it was, then I would simply buy into the narrative of my people created by this European-American society. That narrative is as follows: "A long time ago slaves were brought from africa, slavery wasn't all that bad, they were freed.....blah blah blah MLK, blah blah blah Malcolm x was a 'reverse racist'....blah blah blah Obama....blah blah blah now black people should just 'get over it'. I reject that narrative because it is complete and other bull****. As for the "irrelevant fluff" comments, I called those particular statement that because they did not address anything I was saying. They seemed to just be in there for show. I understood what they meant...that's how I was able to determine they had to real relevance to the conversation. I disagree but I have already addressed this numerous times. You shouldn't refer to a whole continent as if it one culture. Show me where I said this. I have said time and time again the Africans are among the most diverse people on this planet......if not THE most diverse. The global african community is far more diverse than you know. Are you sure you read through the thread? The same thing goes for when you reference Europe and Europeans. It is intellectually lazy to do so. I recognize that there are many European cultures.......but I believe the only European culture I have referred to is the EUROPEAN-AMERICAN culture. So idk what you are getting at. You seem to be dismissive and shut off to reality when it differs from what you want to believe. That is disappointing to see. No, I'm dismissive and shut off to bull**** because I know it isn't true. It doesn't matter how it is dressed up....bull**** is bull****. I hope you find whatever you are looking for in your self discovery, but try to always grow and keep an open mind Thx but trust me, my mind is very open.
you should just go back to Africa then and you can help your people out 100% instead of living in United States, since this place has had some of the "white man's touch" to help you live better
This guy is bat**** crazy! He believes he's more "African" than the white South African merely because he's black. He also believes he's more African than American even though he speaks English, doesn't speak any African language, spent his whole life in America- never been to Africa, and his upbringing was completely American- not African. Its hilarious he doesn't see that if he ever went to Africa, REAL Africans would laugh at his face when they see an American calling himself African. LOL.
It isn't a matter of whites being superior, or better. Nor is it a matter of blacks not being capable of supporting themselves or thriving (they have historically). It is a matter of REALITY. The fact is that most blacks in the USA have been here as long, if not longer, than a majority of whites. Further, 90% of the USA is NOT black, and a majority of the historical power structure is white. It would be very difficult, if not impossible for blacks in the modern USA to simply not have any relation back to whites because they control the means of production and employment. The same holds true for white people living in China, white people living in Northern Africa or Catholics living in Northern Ireland.
Its funny according to amaru's logic he's more "African" than the Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius who represented South Africa in the freaking Olympics. Just because he's white.
Amaru had an aneurysm figuring out Mugabe and Qaddafi; he doesn't care about Africa, he just can't think of a better synonym for black separatism.
Yet he lives in a nation where 90% of the population is not black and has a job, which I suspect is either frequented by or owned by non blacks... and drives a car designed and manufactured by non blacks, and uses the internet, which was designed by..... well you get the point.
And he spent more than 90% of his life in America, not Africa. More than 90% of his communication, verbal, written, is English, not an African language. catch my drift? He can go to an African country where 90% of people are black, where businesses are frequented and owned by 90% black, etc. Nobody will see him as African than see him as an American, if he can't speak the language, know the cultures, history, and everything that makes up a person's identity, other than skin color.
