For what it is worth I do not think the child will be picked on nearly as much as they would have 15-20 years ago. Messiah is actually a very common name for a child born in the last few years. Further, non traditional names are very common right now.... I know of children named Bear, Fox, Baptist and Legion.

This is why I am glad that I practice in the Federal courts. The few times I practiced in state court I kept thinking "I can't wait to get back to Federal court where people are normal."

    I hate state court.

It's kinda too bad the over-reach by the judge likely won't stand because that's not a wise naming choice. I suppose you can't save people from themslves -- or from their parents.

They're naming babies after demons now?

This is pretty much true. I will say there are SOME state level Judges that are exceptional, but you really need to know the Judge or you are literally reaching into a grab bag. Also politics plays a huge part in the selection of Judges at the state and local level.

    1) As a parent. Why? Just why?
    2) As a judge. **** off.

    A battle of morons.

I'm leaning the same way, although the parents (I'm a parent myself) have the right to saddle their kid with whatever ridiculous name they care to lay on him/her. I've heard far worse that Messiah. The judge should be tossed out of office for brute stupidity. The parents have the right to be stupid. It is their freakin' kid!

Stupid parents, overreaching inappropriate decision by judge.

Should there be limits on what you can name your child? What if someone named their child "N****r?"

Maybe get more specific. Jehovah, Yahweh, Elohim, or Adonai. Better yet, call him Allah just to mess with the judge.
