There's not really any mins available in the back court already, if we were to sign him parsons would have to play at the 4 a little bit. Giving us possibly a 5 man rotation at the 4.

    Lin(28), Beverley(20)
    Harden(36), Garcia(10), Lin(2)
    Parsons(26), Jackson(16), Garcia(6)
    Jones(16), Smith(10), Motiejunas(10), Parsons(6), Howard(6)
    Howard(26), Asik(22)

That would put one of Camby, Brooks, Canaan or Casspi on the bench and the others inactive, also would have to cut Williams, Covington, Young etc.

Alex Kennedy going home for the evening and stops by the water cooler for a drink on the way out of the office. There is a janitor sweeping g up for the evening that speaks to Alex Kennedy.

Uh, no. Gregg Popovich thought Jackson was an annoying, useless distraction, hence why he kicked Jackson off the team two days before the playoffs began.

    I'd be fine with this.

Keep the competition open and fair for the 15 best guys though

Has anyone else said this other than Kennedy? I stopped following that guy a while ago... He throws everybody's name out there and retweets the same article 100 times with different summaries to get more hits.

I don't really see a need for Jackson, he threw a fit in SA of all places when he didn't get enough minutes... I don't see him acting any better with our organization.

It would seem like a no-brainer to bring in a talented veteran on a vet. min. contract (assuming he actually would take that.... hint- he has said before he would rather retire than take the min). However, the Rockets have a good thing going with their locker room chemistry, and you really dont want to mess with that too much.

You dont want to put such a vocal but bi-polar veteran in your locker room that will mess with the leadership qualities of the young leaders who are guys like Parsons, Harden, and Lin. This is their team, and they should have the ability to lead the right way.

Just say no to SJax... Its not worth it for a guy who wont be a contributor anyways without major injuries.

I'm a huge Captain Jack fan. Always have been. I realize that he has some personality issues, but I think it stems from competitive passion. If he accepts a role off the bench without whining, he'd be great for us.

Even at his age, he can easily drop 15-20 points on a given night.

He's one of the few guys left that can score efficiently with a jab step as his go to move. Plus, he's underrated in the post and is downright DEADLY if he's feeling it.

What people NEVER bring up is how underrated he is as a passer and DEFENDER. Watch some youtube clips of his defense. He plays up close and personal and doesn't back down to anyone.

We need some better defensive players at this point. Omer holds the paint, true, but outside of that, Chandler can't guard the whole court. Cisco is good, too, but he doesn't get enough minutes per last season.

I thought Jeremy would be a better on-the-ball defender, but he can't keep up nor can he take physical contact.

For the minimum, SJack is a good pickup. You know what you're getting from him offensively and defensively, unlike many of the guys we currently have.

Shoot, I'd play Chandler at the 4, Jack at the 3 with Lin and James...God knows our PFs on this team can't shoot the ball.

I'd settle for something mediocre at the 4 right now because as our roster stands today, we look terrible there. DMo is not the answer for at least another 2-3 years and TJones seems to have no midrange jumper.

Why did Morey trade PatPat for garbage? :(

    Anyway, bring Captain Jack on.

Come on now. Carl H. will smell blood in the water here pretty soon and give his familiar points on the matter.

Reports from Feigan were that they thought Robinson(while more of a risky prospect) gave them more flexibility to move this Summer if needed. We can only speculate, but i doubt the Rockets would have yielded two 2nd rounders and two very good Euro prospects for Patterson going into a contract year, but that's debatable. We will never know of course.

However, if the Rockets didn't land Howard, one could say that they were better off with a younger/raw, but higher-upside player like Robinson.

But regardless, the Rockets were successful with the outcome of the transaction by a long-shot. Garcia was probably more effective in the post season than Patterson would have been, his time in Houston was a big reason why he took less so quick to come back to Houston, and the Rocket got some really nice assets in the trade from Portland..... oh and they were able to get Dwight Howard with the salary cap space the transaction made.

You make some points about Jackson as a player who can contribute (assuming he still can at his age), but my concern comes at the risk of locker room chemistry where the youngsters Parsons, Lin, and Harden are the clear leaders in the clubhouse.

Jackson didn't get the nickname Captain Jack without there being some tongue & cheek embedded in that nickname along the way. He's always been a bi-polar personality that's had well documented issues with coaches and players along the way.

Maybe in a few years the Rockets culture will be established enough to be strong enough to silence former trouble makers like Jackson like the Celtics have been able to do the past few years with similar players, but I'd like the Rockets to allow their young leaders a chance to develop those leadership skills a few more years with more subtle lead-by-example veterans like the Scola's, Battier's, and Garcia's we have grown accustomed to.

LOL indeed, the enforcer is one of the main reasons they did not win anything. Bad example.

Sounds good to me, as long as his jump shot still works.

Yes we need goons but we need goons who aren't uncontrollable. S-Jax is a cancer who keep stirring **** up and destroying chemistry wherever he went, why do you think he keeps bouncing around teams?

Teams which don't know better always get lured in bis his "skills" but then end up regretting signing him when they realize he's a nutjob. SAS is a team composed of vets and even they gave up on him after he stirred **** up against Manu, I don't know what'll happen if he comes in our team full of rooks and young players. Let's not be a dumbass and steer clear of captain Jack

I saw Captain Jack in Lake Charles, Louisiana training yesterday. He looks like he is in very very good shape.

You're right. Like he did for San Antonio last season. When he dropped 15 points or more over the 2012-13 season....once. And needed 6 shots to score 6.2 points. Yeah, that's offense right there.

Seriously guys, this is a player who Gregg Popovich told "GTFO". not even " We're going to leave you on the bench to play spot minutes, which we let TRACY MCGRADY do." Just, gtfo. Jackson is completely done.

You could tolerate the guy and his b****ing when he was in his prime but now that he's over the hill why would the Rockets bother.
