oh I'm used to it, but it doesn't change the fact that they are lying and are unable to defend their accusations. it's more reflective of the fact that they cannot defeat me in argument, so they resort to insults and throwing the race card. Intellectually lazy, and intellectually defeated.
I'm not surprised it went over your head. It takes a certain level of intelligence to think abstractly....and I'm not sure you possess it
Correct......I view you as a European. The only people I see as "true americans" are the first nation people who have resided here for thousands of years. Everybody else is an illegal immigrant or the descendant of people who were forced to move to this side of the world. I know you don't like it......deal with it
Sorry to break this to you but you are not African and he is not European. You are both Americans. Deal with it.
You are, of course, entitled to your opinion.....but it is incorrect. I have nothing but respect for the majority of first nation people and their heritage..............but I respect my heritage (and theirs) enough to realize that I am not one of them....even if I might have 1 or 2 first nation great-great-grandparents. I am the descendant of African people who were brought to this side of the world against their will. It was their will to survive and prosper that allows me to live today. I don't disrespect my elders and I don't dare disrespect those who died so that I can live......I stand on their shoulders. I am them and they are me. It might not make sense to you.....but it doesn't have to. DEAL WITH IT
The funny thing is that they have no concept of "American." They were tribal people (a couple of thousand different tribes I think) who busied themselves killing off the other tribes as readily as they could to dominate the land and capture the women. It's a human thing apparently.
If you had a genuine grasp of racial bigotry and stereotyping you'd understand how hurtful, slanderous, limiting and offensive a comment this is to the 200+ million people who have no emotional or social attachment to Europe, and have spent generations building lives and the culture that you and I as non-whites live and prosper in.
Agreed, I do realize that idea like 'Pan-Africanism' and 'Pan-Americanism' are fairly recent ideas.... It's not a perfect classification system...but it makes more sense to call a first nation person "American" (in quotations because a lot of them do not like that term....as they are not descendants of Amerigo Vespucci....another topic) than it does to call somebody whose family comes from another land a "true american". They were tribal people (a couple of thousand different tribes I think) who busied themselves killing off the other tribes as readily as they could to dominate the land and capture the women Not sure where this came from...or what it has to do with anything that has been said here. I don't recall anybody claiming that violence is an European invention. There has been human violence long before Europeans.....and even before our species existed (because we are not the first human species this planet has ever seen). Now I would say that Europeans are the first group to take violence and oppression and use it on a GLOBAL scale.......but they certainly didn't invent it.
To be completely honest with you Pouhe......I don't care if any "African-American" (black) or "European-American" (caucasian/white) is "hurt" by what I say.......the truth is the truth. If they have any doubts, all they have to do is look at their DNA. The truth is right in front of them......I use to be ashamed when somebody would call me an "African" or tell me to "go back to Africa" because I thought that was something terrible. But a funny thing happened, I learned my history and I learned to be proud of who I am and who my ancestors were. I choose to embrace what I see in the mirror and I draw strength from my ancestors resiliency........do you?
We are not talking about our ancestors whom which I have much respect for as well we are talking about you and me. Just answer these few questions Where were you born? What's your fist language? Are our ancestors the only reason you feel you are African?
Then you lack a basic sense of fairness or equity with regards to contemporary racial issues have no business posting in racial threads, ever again.
A military base English No....they are not the only reason but they are (obviously) a big reason for it. Every time I look in the mirror, I see an African face looking back at me. A marginalized group of people, exploited but ultimately resilient. I see the faces of all those who died with dreams of seeing their homelands unfulfilled. I see the faces of those who died in hopes that their descendants would be able to live better lives than them. I don't turn away from that....I don't dare ignore that because I happen to have a few creature comforts....I don't DARE be that damn disrespectful. I don't speak any native African languages, or practice any native african religions (I am an atheist), I can't even say with 100% certainty where exactly they came from on the continent ( I do have my suspicions). What I can do is honor their sacrifice.....what I can do is realize who I am, and more importantly who I am not, what I can do is "go back for that which I have forgotten".
