Makes no sense at all. Asik is a bad fit next to Howard? Well, so is Pekovic. Asik doesn't wanna be a backup? Well, Pekovic won't, either. Asik is too expensive for a backup? Well, Pekovic wants even more than 8M a year. Thankfully, here are some other "rumors" this article links to: • Kings Rumors: Omer Asik Trade With Houston Rockets An Option For John Salmons or Chuck Hayes In Sacramento After Timofey Mozgov Signs Deal With Nuggets? • Houston Rockets Trade Rumors: Omer Asik Deal To Pelicans For Ryan Anderson Helps Both Teams If New Orleans Loses Greg Oden To Miami Heat • Milwaukee Bucks Rumors: Nikola Pekovic Trade For Brandon Jennings An Option If Timberwolves Deals Not Completed? In what universe can Pekovic play the PF position more than Asik. He cannot guard the stretch PF. Offensively he gets all his points in the paint, No team in their right mind would guard Pekovic with their PF.
Houston: Asik --> Minnesota Minnesota: Pekovic --> New Orleans 2nd Round Pick --> Houston New Orleans: Anderson & 2nd Round Pick --> Houston Since we are giving up the most dominant player in this trade we better get some gems for Morey to cash in and we all know the second round is a gold mine for the Rockets!
You forgot to add with all the hype in this two players, they still unable to take their team to the playoff, not to mention, neither of them have any playoff experiences.
Could see this as including Portland in the mix perhaps - obviously needs fillers but: Asik -> Minnesota Pek -> Portland Aldridge -> Houston
And you ave to worry when the editor lets things like "According to Yahoo Sports, the Timberwolves and Pekvic" slip through.
I hope people realize that Pekovic is asking Harden money. (he's actually a really good player, but kinda injury prone.)
IF its a 3 team deal with Asik going to Minn, Pek going to uknown third team, and uknown third team sending player x here, the possibilities could be: Portland (Aldridge)- so they can have Lopez, Pek, and Leonard? Doubt it Atlanta (Horford)- front court of Pek and Millsap fits better...but Horford is too good. Everyone else may undervalue Horford, but Atlanta probably knows better. Pellies (Anderson)- I guess it makes sense if they Pek that much more than Asik, but we are still without a good backup C. I really can't think of anything else that would make even a little bit of sense.
Doubt Lopez would still be around if Portland went for it - Pek is a huge upgrade over Lopez and Leonard is still their pet project.
really not a bad deal honestly. pekovic can be the starting power forward with his inside scoring ability.
people are sleeping and underestimating Robin Lopez. He's a solid backup center on a good team, and a decent starting center on a bad team.
