I started in January 2013 so I just missed the cutoff of being part of those statistics!

    Go oil and gas!

    Huge pet peeve of mine.

    Me: What do you do?
Them: I'm in oil & gas.

Bro, give me a real answer. What are you, a janitor? An oil taster?

It's where the money is at. I couldn't be happier than being in Oil & Gas (Sorry Ziggy). Salaries are great but the bonuses and benefits are  esp working for E&P companies.

    I'm in Finance/Accounting

Where I work, the finance people always get screwed over. Wells is where it's at brahs.

How so? My brother, cousin, and numerous friends are in the same field. Never heard of any "screwed" stories.

When times get hard, they're the first to go. Like right now with natural gas. They're less likely to get rid of someone who understands operations.

I've only worked in the industry for about two years, and only for this one company, but that's what I've seen and heard.

I'm in accounting, but I just moved to OKC so I can't offer much help there :(

But, the accounting/finance job market in oil and gas is pretty good right now. I know when they closed down Devon Energy's Houston office, that most of the accountants had no trouble finding another job. The only ones who had a little trouble were generally the older accountants or the ones with either associates degrees or no degree.
