http://www.opposingviews.com/i/soci...utory-rape-reddit-readers-make-him-regret-it# The article talks about a reddit user who posted a story about a crime (crimes) he committed that he was never penalyzed for. The Reddit community saw fit to bring him to justice almost 2 years after the offense. What say you clutchfans community, do you agree with the actions taken by the other users? Part of me thinks, yeah he got what he deserved the other part thinks what if he really has changed his life...
I don't know exactly what he was trying to do with his confession besides "getting it off his chest." Did he feel guilty? If no, then it's F#*$^ up people like him are walking around this earth. If YES, then maybe the punishment, although late, fit the crime, due to the tardiness and the severity. Could he have gone to confess to the public? I don't know, either. I don't know that I would have done exactly as the REDDIT community did, but... I don't see why he should complain about his confession. If he really didn't want anything done about it, he would have left so much stuff out to be unidentified.
Am I missing something here? This 18 year old guy had sex with a girl who he thought was a few years younger than him. Not really that uncommon, pretty much the same age group. Why the vitriol?
if he is telling the truth about the situation with under aged girls, big if, then i understand your point xerobull,
I couldn't care any less about this But I just wanted to say that reddit is one of the stupidest things on the internet.
Because even he thought they were 15-16. Because they were completely intoxicated Because they kept the girls completely intoxicated to where one had alcohol poisoning. Not the most chivalrous of gentleman. And them claiming "Reddit" wanted justice is a stretch. Unless 100,000 people reported it to police it could have just been a couple of females that felt like white knights.
i know right, like twitter, who likes having tons and tons of information relative to your interests in one easily accessible place at the same time..
He believed the girls were 15-16, that's a 2-3 year difference. In TN, it takes a 4 year difference if the minor is between the age of 13 and 18. link They were all underage drinkers. The girls had just as much choice in the matter as the two a-hole boys did. Immaterial. ********************** I'm not arguing for statutory rape in any sense, but an 18 year old having sex with a 15-16 year old is no reason to crucify the guy. Of course, they were younger, but they were representing themselves as older. They met them at a party and I'm sure the defense could have brought plenty of people forward to prove the girls' character.
Reminds me of when a user submitted a 'Confession Bear' meme about killing someone and was reported shortly after.
I think the people of Reddit are less concerned with law and justice, and more concerned with "trolling" people they deem worth it.
I'm not taking it lightly, just thinking about when I was 18. I dated girls a year or two younger than me (as well as older). Their parents were fine with it. You should be scared when you have kids. I'm a paranoid mofo with my son. There are horrible people out there. Way worse than the subject of this reddit thing. Hopefully, if you have a daughter, she won't be a boy-crazy sex fiend at 13 like the girls in this story are.
