This is quite an insightful thread despite confused minds taking things out of context and claiming the moral high ground. The protesters are fighting a lost cause. Thugs, as we know them, have a growing sense of entitlement and delinquent behavior is leaving the hood and permeating the suburbs. Instead of looking foolish by protesting a cause where race was clearly not a factor, masking it with the stand your ground bs, they need to understand why these stereotypes exist and change the core values that cause aggressive, violent behavior. "Every black american knows what it's like to walk past a car and hear the locks turn." Well, ignoring 99 cases like this and promoting the 1 case of innocence, despite no racial injustice, isn't going to change anything. It's unfortunate Trayvon passed, god bless his soul, but unfortunate events happen. There's no need to use that issue to springboard hostility. Blacks need to look at other blacks and ask themselves, what's going on? How can we change to help others change? In-house changes need to be made.

No, actually I was highlighting Obama's clear hypocrisy in ASSUMING Trayvon was racially profiled by GZ (hence the "if I had a son comment"). Obama was very wrong to do that. ...but it did serve his purpose of riling up blacks in Florida to get out and vote...
That was my reaction. Honey Bear just outdid all the usual suspects for offensive D&D threads (of course, they jumped in to share the credit). I was about to hit Report before I remembered that mods won't do jack-**** about it. As for Obama's comments, yes this murderer looks like what Obama's son might look like if he had one in the same way Trayvon Martin did, but to think this is a rebuttal shows you've completely missed the point that Obama was making. Obama is talking about a community in the US that is under stress, with black boys not getting the support they should have. He hasn't simply talked about Martin as some angelic victim of racism, he's gone on to talk about the neglect of black boys in general and the negative consequences that has on society, including criminal behavior. But to hear Honey Bear tell it, these kids strangled some sweet white girl because blacks are inherently predatory, merciless killers, right?
