Sorry Kobe, Harden is the best shooting guard in the NBA now.

Wow I din't agree with McMenamin on almost everything (Klay Thompson is overrated).

Harden was the best shooting guard in the NBA last year, and now with his only competition injured he will without a doubt be the best sg next year.

I disagree, Kobe does not trust his teammates. If you have Howard and Pau playing in the post you should feed them the ball more often.

Kobe is not as clutch as his fans would like you to believe, he makes clutch shots but he also misses a lot of them. Kobe would rather take the impossible shot, than pass to an teammate.

I do not disagree that there is no player as skilled in making th eimpossible shot as Kobe, my problem with him is that he takes so many impossible shots that he hurts his team (since an higher percentage shot was also available).

Im sure I will be crucified for this, but Kobe has never been more than a great volume shooter who is at his best when he has an All-Star center drawing attention down low. Without Shaq and then Gasol in his prime, Kobe has never won anything. Not to mention Phil Jackson. Kobe is now a past his prime Top 50 all time player, but he is no longer the top shooting guard in the NBA. I truly believe he is a great scorer and an amazing competitor, but I will be ecstatic when he retires so I can finally stop hearing about his greatness. Kobe wouldn't be even in the conversation of all-time champions if he hadn't had HOF Centers do all the dirty work. Kobe is a rare talent, and a great player, but I think his legacy should be grounded in reality. That reality being that he couldn't win ANY championships without a HOF Center and a HOF coach.

I think if you put any of the top 15-20 all time great SG's with the players and Phil that Kobe has been blessed with and a lot of people would have 5 rings. Laker homers can now attack...

    Harden better scorer(more efficient)

    Beard: 26ppg on 17 shots
    FG%-44%
    3P%-37%
    FT-85%
    ORtG-116

    Mamba: 27ppg on 20 shots
    FG%-46%
    3P%-32%
    FT-84%
    ORtG-112

Harden better defender(they're both sub par tbh) And yes... Kobe is actually even worse than Harden on that end.

    Beard:
    SPG-1.8
    BPG-0.5
    RPG-4.9
    DRtG-106

    Mamba:
    SPG-1.4
    BPG-0.3
    RPG-5.8
    DRtG-107

Playmaking is a wash, but KB with slight edge statistically.

    Beard: 5.8 apg... 3.8 TOV
    Mamba: 6.0 apg... 3.7 TOV

Harden is a better scorer and defender... Kobe is a better rebounder.. playmaking is a wash, but Kobe with the slight edge... although with better finishers on his team undoubtedly.

So yeah.. Da Beard >> Mamba.. last season and going forward.

    this article is nonsense.
-there is not a single title is being spoon-fed. harden has to 'earn' that title.
-the failure of lakers last season was not all kobe's fault.
-the success of rockets last season was not all james's credit either.
-it is irrelevant to compare rockets to lakers. lakers have been the most dominant team in the last 2 decades. the rockets just start look like a real champ contender.

I was so wrong about the Harden trade. I had no idea he had this much game in him. His play makes every NBA GM look stupid for not chasing him. Morey's greatest heist by a mile.

Truly, a great summer, despite the seemingly endless arguing about a certain Rockets point guard in the GARM, discussing Scola's trade from the Suns to the Pacers, which depressed me (because I wish we still had him), a dude babbling about peeing on a chick in Hangout being the current "hot topic," and the usual troll threads in D&D cluttering up the basement. The point remains. We did snag the best shooting guard and the best center in the league within a year, and that's freakin' amazing.

It's a great time to be a fan of the Rockets. Been a long time since we were considered contenders for a title. Too long. We're back.

His age and how long he has been in the NBA doesn't matter If you look at who was the best last year.

Nobody is saying bryant didn't have the best career. He just wasn't the best last year. And we can be sure he won't be the best nest year.

To be fair, Harden has 0 competition.

    His top 2 competitors.

Kobe - old and injured. oh and his defense has dropped off a cliff.

Wade - old as well. Also plays second banana.

    However,

    Prime Kobe > Harden
    Prime Wade > Harden

We don't know what Harden's prime will be like, but for sure their primes are better than the current Harden.

Both were pretty even but Kobe imo edges Harden out.

    -no post game

    -no effort on defense

= 2nd to kobe until kobe returns and proves otherwise.

Torn Achilles = Not in the conversation at all until he returns and proves that he should be in that conversation. A torn Achilles at his age is a career ender, there's no way he comes back and is the best SG in the league.

We have only seen the pre-prime Harden. The prime Harden is about to begin this season...
