23-24ppg, 44% FG, no defense, throwing teammates under the bus at his highest career percentage. The best part will be the media talking about how 2013-14 is really about Kobe recovering from his injury and how in 2014-15 the league better be prepared for the real Kobe (at 36 years old LOL).
he will lose out on athleticism but i think his overall game will improve i think he will pass better, be a playmaker and shoot better from outside he will continue to be the #1 SG in the league
They can talk about how great his recovery is going but remember they have tickets to sell. Nobody going to pay Laker prices to see Pau/Nash/Nick Young.
Dear GOD!!! In the first picture he looks like a woman in drag. In the second picture he looks like a man in drag. WTF??!!!
His style of play lends me to think he will be ok. Decreased athleticism won't hurt him like it would to someone whos game is dependent on it, like say Nique when he tore his Achilles. Kobe will still be deadly from outside and give you good post play at the guard position. He will probably become a better facilitator & more of a team player in time, once he accepts his new physical limits. He has a strong will to win, eventhough he's a chucker...that's what separates him from a player like Melo IMO. Kobe is a chucker because he truly believes that him taking that many shots gives his team the best chance to win. I think his drive to win may even compell him to leave the Lakers & accept a smaller role & less money to play for a contender, provided free agency doesn't go well for the Lakers next year. No, I'm not a Kobe fan, but you do have to respect his commitment to the game & the passion he plays with.
The one on the right makes me think about the scene in "Coming to America"...."I was Joan of Ark in a former life".
He still be the greatest SG on the planet ... to be honest I do not believe Kobe relied on his athleticism as much Nique. He has grown to the point over the last 8 or 9 years of beating players with his wit.
really? wasn't last year when he was putting up some of the highest assist totals of his career, while scoring more efficiently than he has in years? doesn't sound like you watched him last year
I have no idea how he is going to come back. It sounds like he is rushing it though. I don't believe he will be a complete shell of himself though. I think he will show off the passing ability he has (Though he has never ever really used throughout his career...). So point drop-off and more assists. He is a smart player after-all.
One of the worse assist/turnover ratios in the NBA with 3.7 turnovers a game. No defense and no longer dominant. Kobe is washed up. He might put up 25 points this season, but definitely will be as "empty" as it can be. Wouldn't be surprised to see his ankles break a few times against the young guys. 1-2 decent years left, first round exits. Kobe done.
If you put Kobe say on the bulls team last year how washed up do you think people would have said he was??
It's not fair to put a still-capable scorer on a team that would essentially cover all of his weaknesses and say he's still elite. Basically, anything other than taking 20 shots a game, Kobe isn't elite at anymore. He'd also fit right into the Pacers, Heat, Spurs, and Grizzlies with others picking up his slack. Kobe's longevity is admired by all, but his days in the top 10 are over. Besides, those German steroids are still cheating.
