I said earlier, I have no idea what level of evidence the NCAA needs to arrive at to satisfy itself of a suspension. We have a tendency to frame this stuff like it's a criminal trial with a "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard. I doubt seriously that's what the NCAA needs. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he's suspended for the first 2 games only....back in time for the Alabama game. That wouldn't shock me at all.
This would probably be the logical result based on past actions. Unless the NCAA is having this MLB like new movement where they're trying to really enforce rules nowadays, Manziel will play. Then again, this dope is really pushing the boundaries to the extreme limits.

Unlike TMZ and company, I doubt Disney is in the business of buying secret videos from people. If nothing else, they probably don't want to start a precedent for anyone else who wants to try to sell them stuff.

Maybe. The articles did note that it would be difficult to punish him if they cannot prove that he actually received the money. Unless they have that proof, I can envision a scenario where the NCAA agrees to a two game suspension so they can look like they did something. If they have evidence that he took money, then they will bounce him and he will deserve it.
Spoke with my guy again. Says they're (the family and I assume TAMU) waiting to see if the NCAA can prove anything but that the situation in general does not look good.
I wonder how much timing could play a part in this. The NCAA typically moves very slowly on these investigations... we're talking months and many times years. Add in the facts that the brokers supposedly won't cooperate, A&M hired the Cam Newton law firm, and that might be enough to stall any ruling until after the season. It may or may not impact the ultimate decision, but retroactively "vacated wins" isn't much of a threat in the grand scheme.
This doesn't appear to be a case where the brokers won't cooperate. They seem to be seeking out attention and money.
My guy wouldn't know, he's very close to them but I doubt he's that close and if he was he probably wouldn't tell me. I'm going to talk to him tomorrow in detail. It's been a series of brief text exchanges and voicemails so far (we're both busy).
Yes. If the NCAA holds the investigation open and later determines that he was ineligible, the team will have any wins vacated.
