If I was the old man I would of farted and stopped that nonsense in a heartbeat!!!... Seriously, I doubt that any of us are 64yrs old and actually know what we would of done! I would like to think that I would of stepped in to stop the fight but thinking and doing are to separate things! What I strongly assume is that the driver knew these hooligans far better than any of us and probably had witnessed them terrorize their peers previously. Knowing firsthand what these drug peddlers were capable of, fear took over and self preservation kicked-in! (P.S.) I don't think this was a racist act, but I do think if the people involved where opposite in race this would be 10x a bigger deal. ....... ....... .......

I'm just trying to bring that up because I was still an employee at the place where the incident takes place. AND if I were an employee at a place where something like this takes place, I'd stop it if it looks this brutal and no one else does.
...but happens every day in schools all over the country and has for decades, without anybody getting killed. The actual injuries of two black eyes and a broken hand should dispel any notions of attempted murder.
It doesn't because he didn't lose his life, his injuries actually weren't anywhere near that. And yes, fights like this happen everywhere at schools across the country going back decades, without anyone being killed. Writing kids off as "thugs" and treating them like adult felons, which they aren't, won't be in anybody's best interest long term.
Getting beat up with two black eyes and a broken hand happens every day in school for decades? Or do you mean kids jump other kids everyday has been happening for decades? Having a broken hand and two black eyes on a school bus is kind of a serious offense. I guess the bus driver meant it figuratively and not literally when he said they about to kill this kid.

It's all relivant. If I see those perticular three kids beating the crap out of another kid like that then I'm stepping in... period. I feel pretty confident I could hurt all three and probably would only need to drop one of them before the other two took off. Honestly, I think any decent size grown man in reasonable physical condition could hurt any of those three kids with out too much effort. But if I'm walking in the park and see three grown men or college age kids beating the crap out of a kid then certainly the danger goes up and most people would hesitate trying to decide what to do. Most would probably do what the buss driver did.
That fights happen in schools everyday without kids being killed, or getting injuries anywhere near that? That under-aged minors are capable of rehabilitation, and more so if they're not scrutinized by an entire community and then thrown into the criminal justice system for a school fight?
All of it, particularly black eyes. It's a very typical, non-fatal injury in a fight, or in any kind of contact sports; and I don't know why everyone here is pretending otherwise. The bus driver might have said that more for the police and a sense of urgency, due to his unwillingness to get up and intervene.
