You're confusing (what you think is ) Hip-hop culture with "African-American" culture.

Even this is incorrect.....despite what you see on television, Hip-Hop culture =/= black culture. It is a small part of the whole pie.

Bigtexxx... if you honestly believe the African Americans do not value education, morals etc as much as the White man what do you think caused it? Do you believe it is some inherent genetic predisposition in African blood? If not, please tell us what is the cause.

Has nothing to do with iq, or how smart blacks are. When a black person is motivated to do something good with his/her life, or really wants to achieve greatness, he/she can do it better than anybody else, the problems are when outside influences, no father, broken homes, negative crowds get in the way of POTENTIAL. African( Nigerian immigrants) come to america and score better than whites and asians on exams to prove my point

I have no evidence that it is genetic. In fact you don't see many of the traits I described in Africans who come to the US.

You can argue the pointless debate about what caused this culture to not value education, speaking proper English, marriage, etc, but what's important to me is that it change, rather than being celebrated. Otherwise they will just keep falling behind again and again.

That's actually not true. For instance, on the SAT, African immigrants score above African-Americans, but still significantly lower than white or Asian.

Perhaps, you are referring to education level? There, it is true that a greater percentage of African immigrants have college degrees. However, this statistic is somewhat misleading because the African immigrant population is both fairly small and self-selecting. Only the richest can afford to immigrate to the US, a population that overlaps with those who can afford an education. The same situation applies to Asian immigrants too, but is more pronounced with African because of generally greater levels of income inequality and lower levels of economic development. Furthermore, a significant number of African college degrees come from institutions of questionable quality.

 

What is significantly lower and where is your data?

Immigrants, in general, are among the best of the best in their respective homelands.

When my mother decided to immigrate to Britain and then the U.S. It took her parents money plus many donations from those in her village in order to purchase the ticket.

Obviously you wouldn't do that for somebody who wasn't "a big fish in a small pond" so to say.

Page 260, last line of the figure. The paper is from 2007; so still based on the old SAT. The mean immigrant black score is 1250, higher than the native black score of 1193, but still significantly lower than white, which is 1361, and Asian, which is even higher (not mentioned in study).
