7 game losing streak and they traded Peavy. looks like we have to shift our attention from the marlins to the chi sox. didn't see that coming.
Miami is too good now to threaten the Astros for 1st pick they even beat Matt Harvey today. The White Sox have been tanking as of late. WS is the only team who can catch us but if we lose today 4.5 games in front of ChiSox for Rodon.
With 56 games still to play, anything could happen as far as the final standings go. It was only 6-8 weeks ago Miami had the bottom spot by 3-4 games as I recall. As long as Cosart, Bedard and Oberholtzer keep their ERA's above 3 for the next 8 weeks, Rodon is ours.
After today, the WS get 10 games at home where they are almost respectable at 22-28. They should start winning some games again soon (I hope).
At one point, we were not at the bottom on offense. But apparently, even that has changed. At or near the bottom in nearly every pitching and offensive statistical category. We are 16th in the league in home runs
I applaud Lucas Herrell... dude looks around, sees us winning, realizes thats unacceptable and give us 3 runs in about 5 minutes. Comes back out in the 8th and has a 1-2-3... know when to do damage and when enough is enough. Total dedication to the rebuilding effort!
I can see it now: Crap, we have a for game set against those 4 guys? Rangers swept in a four game set by CRAP.
The perfect game HS all-American game is tonight at Petco in San Diego. It's airing at 7 pm on mlb network if anyone is interested. Here's a primer: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=21493 Gatewood, Alex Jackson, and Tyler Kolek are possible top of the draft candidates to keep an eye on.

Fellow East Texan Tyler Kolek, a #TCU commit, is an absolute beast. Astros should have around a record money to spend in 2014 draft. Around 13.6 million with 4 out of the top 75 picks and 11 picks to spend around 13.6 million. Rodon best college pitching prospect Tyler Kolek best HS pitching prospect wild card Alex Jackson top HS bat and will likely move to RF in the Majors specially if Astros like to negogiate for the best deal.
I'm not convinced Rodon is the Astros guy. Luhnow likes hard workers and guys who won't break the bank on the #1 pick so he can spread the cash to additional prospects. Rodon's weak start to the 2013 season didn't inspire confidence that he had prepared himself for the season properly, and he's so hyped that he may request over slot money even for 1-1. I saw him pitch versus Rice in the super regional round and Rice got a LOT of hits off him...and Rice's offense wasn't good by any stretch. a long time between now and the draft, so there may be a lot of back and forth on who to pick with our likely 1-1 spot.
