    4) Teams earn fans by their players usually. Whats wrong with a Rondo fan who eventually became a Celtic fan? Its natural and normal. But imagine if those Celticfans alienated all those Rondo fans like what u guys are doing. I doubt many Rondo fans would stick around to root for Celtics for the garbage treatment they received. Same case here. Ofc that Rondo story is made-up and just used as an analogy.

Lol no one is saying don't be an only fan, its just when you ignore realism and expectations is when we get irked. If a player plays badly don't claim he us still better then others ect or the ext year story. The issue here is similar to B. Jens, he has a scoring outburst amd people thing he is a scoring machine night in and out when he isn't .

we have Harden (arguably best 2 guard), Dwight (best center) and Parsons yet we are talking about Lin...

that's like talking about Mario Chalmer and not Lebron, Wade and Bosh on a Heat forum LMAO

I am with tinman on this.

Yoko fans aren't real Beatles fans.

They should lock all these Lin fans in a room and have yoko Ono sing for them every song ever made.

    That should be their fate

What I don't like about this board is the generalizations on Lin fans... for sure there are some very stupid Lin fans, same as for sure there are some stupid Rockets fans, as well as there are some stupid people in every kind of group.

For sure my fate isn't to be locked with Yoko Ono in a room...

I followed NBA post Jordan because of Lin. Yes, i become a rockets fan the moment jeremy lin got signed. If lin is not a rocket anymore, i will still be a rocket fan. But i might not be watching a lot of rockets games. This team grew on me.

I agree, but let's get things straight with that comparison lol. Lin is better than Chalmers. And The difference between Bosh and Chalmers is much, much greater than the difference between Parsons and Lin

yes my comparison between players wasn't good. I would take Lin over Chalmers any day of the week, but you get the point.

I agree that it is not always fair. But let me explain why that is: the discussion culture on this board changed since the signing of Lin. Some may argue it changed dramatically and not for the better. It got to a point where it was more than a little annoying. And this is not like back then when we had Yao. There were several YOFs on this board, but they were differnet to the LOFs we have now. Now some people only care about one player, blame everybody else when that player is not playing well and even causing bad blood when things doesn`t go that players way. The result is lots of arguing and lots of really stupid threats.

Some people have suggested to creat a Lin section - and they were only half joking. For a lot of "oldtimers" on here, it would be really refreshing to have the old discussion culture back.

You do understand a number of those votes were not serious right? You also understand it's because an obviously flamebait poll like this will naturally attract sarcastic votes right?

    Oh please.

This board was happily bashing Yao and "YOF" for quite some time as well. It's just a bunch of people who want to brag, belong and discriminate.

Isn't this basically the reason why Lin is talked about all the time? A guy makes a very reasonable comparison that's easy to understand, gets the point across, simple and articulate, and this is the response he get.

Stop trying to perceive threats against Lin at every corner, and GARM will be a decidedly less Lin-centric place. Although to be fair, there really is nothing else to talk about, so it would also be a much more boring place.

    YUK YUK YUK.

I seriously don't know why people don't understand what's going on here. It's nothing nefarious. It's just a reaction to the plague of repetitive topics we've all had to endure for months and months now.

I certainly haven't come here since 2008 looking for a war over a random player. I just want to kill time, stay informed, and talk basketball. This stuff is silly..

I don't think I can posts threads yet.

How about someone post a "Do you honestly believe you'd be a Rockets fan today if you didn't live in/near Houston and Hakeem had never won those two championships" poll for me... :)

I agree. Board culture is bound to change over time, but as for barging in here and calling people racist, attacking the Rockets organization, of course it's going to offend some people. This "Jackie Robinson . . . Rosa Parks . . . take the shackles off Lin" stuff is just out of line and irresponsible. Then if we say "Hey, this is the team of Yao," the response is "Oh, it's just like a racist to mention ONE token minority." Some people seem unaware that Yao even existed. And the "Fire McFail Fire McFail" **** is really obnoxious.

Then there was the "trade Lin to a different team because he is so good" movement.

In general, the board seemed much more negative last year than in previous years. It seems that being a Lin fan involves a lot of anxiety, resentment, and bad feelings. Being a fan is supposed to be positive, fun, and exciting, not a b****fest and a bunch of mudslinging at the team you supposedly root for and your supposedly fellow fans.
