I'm slow today. DeShields' hot streak has his batting average north of .310, and he's on track to get 50-60 steals. Not bad, considering he started kind of slow.

Recap Oklahoma City 5, Colorado Springs 2 The Redhawks pounded out 13 hits and got a solid night from Jake Buchanan as they knocked off the Sky Sox for their 10th win in a row. By the way, the 24 runs they scored on Saturday tied a team record. Buchanan went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs on 8 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 4. Jason Stoffel struck out 1 in 1 1/3 perfect frames, and Kevin Chapman punched out Ben Paulsen and Reid Brignac to end it. George Springer put the Redhawks on the board first with an RBI single in the 1st. Brandon Laird hit a 2-run double, and Rene Garcia hit a 2-run single. Springer and Laird both went 2-4. Ruben Sosa went 2-2 as he tagged in for Trevor Crowe, who was 3-3 with 2 runs scored. Game 3 of the series pits Wade LeBlanc against Sean Gallagher. First pitch is at 7:00. Corpus Christi 2, Midland 1 in 10 innings The Hooks took 3 of 4 from the Hounds as Domingo Santana's RBI single in the 10th was the difference. In his AA debut, David Rollins went 5 2/3 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. He threw 79 pitches (50 strikes). Jonas Dufek tagged in to throw 2 1/3 scoreless, allowing a hit and striking out 1. Pat Urckfitz ended up getting the win with 2 scoreless. Down 1-0 in the 8th, Ronald Torreyes reached 3rd on a horrendous error from Midland CF Chad Oberacker. Preston Tucker drew a walk, and then a Max Stassi GIDP allowed Torreyes to score the tying run. The Hooks had a chance to win it in the 9th as Erik Castro's heads-up baserunning netted him a double on a popup that dropped in shallow left field. But, he was stranded there as the Hooks made 3 consecutive outs. Stassi hit a ground-rule double in the 10th, and Santana sent everyone home happy. Stassi was 2-5, and Enrique Hernandez was 2-4. The Hooks will have Monday off before welcoming Northwest Arkansas to Whataburger Field for 3 starting Tuesday. David Martinez draws Kyle Zimmer in the opener. Lancaster 6, High Desert 5 The Jethawks got the sweep as they erased a 5-1 deficit by scoring 5 unanswered. Down 4-0 in the 3rd, Luis Alvarez homered (2, 5 season) to lead off the bottom of the inning. In what turned out to be his final game in Lancaster before his promotion to Corpus, Matt Duffy hit a 2-run single in the 5th. The 3rd run of the inning came as Brandon Meredith reached on an error, which allowed M.P. Cokinos to score. The Jethawks pulled ahead after stretch time as Nolan Fontana scored on a Duffy GIDP and a Meredith RBI single. In his return to Lancaster, Colton Cain went 6 1/3 innings and allowed 5 runs (2 earned) on 11 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 2. Michael Dimock allowed a hit and struck out 1 over 1 2/3 scoreless. Travis Ballew walked 1 as he got 2 outs in the 9th, and Kenny Long struck out Kevin Rivers to end it. Lancaster will have Monday off, and then they'll begin a 3-game series in Modesto on Tuesday. Maybe they'll face Jonathan Gray? Cedar Rapids 3, Quad Cities 2 The River Bandits walked off with a loss as Juan Minaya couldn't finish the deal. They missed an opportunity to overtake the Kernels and assume 1st place in the Midwest League West. Bobby Borchering drew a bases-loaded walk in the 1st to put QC on the board first. In the 9th, Teoscar Hernandez led off with a double, advanced to 3rd on a Danry Vasquez groundout, and scored the go-ahead run on a Carlos Correa single. Correa finished 3-5 to raise his average to .326. The two players ahead of him in terms of average, Devon Travis and Byron Buxton, are in High-A. So, he's currently the Midwest League's leading hitter, 2 points ahead of Leonardo Reginatto. Brian Holmes, in his first start for the River Bandits since May 26, went 6 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 2, and fanned 3. Dan Minor walked 1 in 2 scoreless frames. Minaya got 2 outs in the 9th, but he couldn't get that last out. He also gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. In game 3, Josh Hader will make his organizational debut. He will take on Christian Powell at 6:35. Tri-City 9, Aberdeen 3 Finally. It's over. The ValleyCats buried the Ironbirds with 4 in the 8th and 2 more in the 9th to snap that 9-game losing streak. Brett Booth put TC on the board first with a sac fly in the 3rd, and Conrad Gregor followed that up with an RBI double. Ryan Dineen hit an RBI single in the 4th. In the 8th, Ronnie Mitchell, Dineen, and Tony Kemp scored on wild pitches and Chan-Jong Moon hit an RBI bunt single. Aberdeen threw 5 wild pitches in the inning. The ValleyCats felt the need to tack on a little more insurance in the 9th, as Jon Kemmer hit an RBI double and Dineen had a sac fly. Mitchell was 3-5 with a double and scored 3 times. James Ramsay was 2-5 with a double and a run scored. Zach Morton pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and walked 1. Richard Rodriguez allowed a hit as he got the 2nd out of the 6th. Andrew Walter struck out 4 over 2 1/3 perfect innings, and J.D. Osborne allowed a run, a walk, and struck out 1 in the 9th. Tri-City will head home and have Monday off, and then Williamsport rolls into town for a 3-game series on Tuesday. Greeneville 17, Kingsport 1 The Appy Astros decimated the Mets in the one-off and increased their lead over them to 3 games. 4 times in 5 nights where words can't explain the result of a game. So, who expected Juan Santana to lead the team with 24 RBI? Lost in the assault was Jordan Mills owning Kingsport for 5 shutout innings. He allowed 2 hits and struck out 7. Austin Chrismon went 3 innings and allowed a solo homer to Michael Bernal in the 6th. He allowed 2 other hits, walked 1, and fanned 3. Tyler Brunnemann allowed a hit, walked 2, and struck out 1 in a scoreless 9th. Greeneville will also have Monday off, before they head to Bristol for a 3-game series.

He could be working on his strikeout trot, him losing weight is the big deal here. Getting back into playing shape and staying there is something I want to see. I am glad the numbers are returning, and surely they would, but I was more worried he was on the Bartolo Colon diet plan.
No chance. Astros suck, but we've seen a number of OKC players get rocked in the majors and unable to stick. Of course, Astros would be a very competitive team in the majors if they just had a bullpen.
Sure, but they haven't gotten to face this lineup. Peacock would have probably had a 20k game yesterday if he was facing the Astros. Between Appel, correa, ad McCullers' signing bonuses, there are more millionaires in quad cities than there are on the big league club.
I fully expect Luhnow (pronounced this season as Lose-Now) will add 2 to 3 significant pieces to the bullpen this offseason. Luhnow needs to get this ship turned around. The Astros really need a bully to preserve quality start wins for the young pitchers.
OKC would eat the Astros bullpen alive. I don't know about competitive...the bullpen has blown 17 games. I think an average bullpen gets you about 10 more wins...still not what I'd call, "competitive."
