A 3pt shot is a 3pt shot.. Anderson is a one trick pony .. That's why Morey went and got shooter who could do the same thing ..all about the shooting percentage not the name.
Anderson is a good defender, a good rebounder, 6 feet + 10 inches, and he is the BEST three point shooter in the NBA. Is he worth Omer Asik? I'm not so sure.
Don't assume Morey wants to keep Asik. Asik will be traded when the right deal is on the table for the Rockets but it's only August and there is no hurry. If Dwight plays 30-35 mins, that only leaves 15-20 for Asik which is a waste. Raven, agreed there are bigger fish out there but LMA may not be achievable. It's on Morey to probe that to it's fullest extent before going another direction. Asik could stay a Rocket until the trade deadline. Teams draw hard lines during the summer and soften up as February approaches. IMO, other teams are likely to offer better packages to the Blazers when they get serious about LMA. But if anybody could make something happen, it's Morey. Maybe one of the current PFs will step up and prove themselves worthy next season. I doubt it.
Good defender what? we're talking about a guy that would get subbed for Baby Davis for purely defensive reasons.
Dwight won't stay athletic forever, so capitalizing on winning now rather than waiting for DMo and Jones to develop actually makes sense.
The Rockets have a window of roughly 3 years to make serious runs at the championship. Assuming Dwight is healthy he is in his prime right now. I don't expect it to happen next season, but the following 2 years will be the ones that count. Point being, we don't have time to improve via draft and we don't have time beyond this season to hope and pray that DMo or TJo break out. If they do then great, but if they don't by the deadline then one or both is trade fodder. Asik is going to be traded at some point, there is no way he resigns and there is no way Morey lets him walk for nothing, so it will happen at some point. We can wait him out for the season if need be but I think Morey will pounce when a good deal lands on his desk. I am sure that LMA is at the top of Morey's list. We will already be contenders but adding him would catapult us straight to the top 3, no question. But adding him is also problematic and would likely hinder our ability to put quality depth behind that awesome front line, so I doubt that it's LMA or nothing for Morey. Anderson would be a very, very good fit next to Dwight and Harden, and he wouldn't break the bank or hinder our depth. I think adding him would also catapult us to top 3 or 4 as well. Personally, I'd go with Anderson but I trust Morey, and I wouldn't exactly cry if he pulled a LMA out of his hat at the deadline. Anyway, there's no immediate rush, we can at least wait until the deadline. We're not desperate to lose Asik, which gives Morey a stronger hand when something does come along. Portland may well have a better year and be in no mood to unload LMA, too. We have some flexibility here.
Eric Gordon will most likely be injured for about half the season. Tyreke Evans has been inconsistent and is going to really struggle trying to guard the 3. Even if healthy, I have a hard time seeing Holiday, Gordon and Evans working together. Asik would make NOLA a much better team IMO because it would allow Davis to play his natural position and would create a great defensive frontcourt. They would make the playoffs and I would think probably the second round, but I still think that Houston would have a better team.
I can agree with that. But D-Mo did started games for us last year. Yes, he did struggle and lost his starting job. But that's what you expect from a rookie. I'm sure he learned from his mistakes now. Dude got huge and he is working hard. With that determination will get him a starting job soon.
Yeah, for 30 year old's. D-Mo is 22 about to be 23, he has a lot to improve. His game will grow more.
It's a pretty dangerous line-up solely because davis can slide to the PF. That kid has potential. I don't like trading a top 10 center to a division rival.
Really? I haven`t watched him a lot, but BEST thre point shooter in the NBA? His percentage is 38% for last year and his career - that`s good for a PF, but best? What about Novak for example? Dirk? Calderon? All have better career and last season percentages (and there are a lot more than that). Like I said, I haven`t really watched him, but what makes him the best? And good defender and rebounder? I´m hearing the opposite when looking stuff up about him. 6 rebs per game, 0.4 blocks and 0.5 steals don`t sound thrilling as well. I am not hating, he is a good player - but I don`t know if he is as good as you point him out to be. As for the question: we should try to get the best player and best fit we can get.
I don't disagree with this , but do believe it would be prudent to at least give those players to the trade deadline to prove one or both is up to the task rather than making a move before you have an answer to the burning question. [ I agree with this as well , Asik gets moved at some point be it this season or next as his contract expires and Morey wont let him walk for nothing. He'll milk an asset or two out of Asik unless they feel they can keep him beyond that which I think is highly doubtful. There should be no rush to move Asik tho ... do it at your convenience. Adding LMA or another star doesn't really change the dynamics of adding talent to the roster - They are already above the cap and limited to exceptions , draft picks & vet min. deals to add players. What difference does it make if its LMA or Asik eating up that cap space (other than the obvious difference in skill)?! The only real difference is LMA puts the team a bit closer to the luxury tax. Other than that , over the cap is over the cap meaning you are limited in adding talent to the ways listed above. This is the bottom line, no rush to move Asik , DMo or Jones. You don't make a deal that doesn't significantly upgrade the team .... you have another year and a half before the expiration date gets here.
IMO trading Asik before the season starts is a knee-jerk reaction UNLESS it's for an all-star. There's no harm in rolling out Asik as Dwight's backup - means we can "just" give Dwight 30 minutes per game over the first few weeks. The only way we ought to trade Asik is to get back someone who makes a bigger impact on the team when Dwight is unavailable. I think to get someone who can "play alongside Dwight", but not necessarily make a difference on his own, (ie, Anderson), is a mistake.
