almost said d-mo, but i think morey will make him the primary backup 4 to develop his game this next season.

i still see morey tweaking this roster for an upgrade at the 4.

A lot of people here are sleeping on Jones. Guess you won't wake up until Terrence makes you do it with his performance.

 

Greg Smith has a zero percent chance of starting. We're better off starting Asik as both have no range and Asik is a much better defender and rebounder. D-Mo and Jones have about a 25% chance of starting each, since they are the only true PFs on our roster. Parsons has a 25% chance of starting at the 4 (with Garcia starting at the 3), and there is a 25% chance that we sign for or trade for a true starting PF before the season starts.

Kevin McHale is an old school guy, he's not going to stick someone in the starting lineup who hasn't proved himself yet. I almost guarantee its going to be Howard + Asik. Or even a small-ball lineup like Lin-Harden-Garcia-Parsons-Howard.

Terrence Jones and D-Mo might get role player minutes, but no way in hell is McHale starting them.

If you asked me last week I would have answered T Jones, but with the latest advancements in his life with the law I am going to say DMo has the job. Word is Dmo bulked up too. I would still like for T Jones to have the starting spot for match up purposes

 

D-Mo and Jones are prospects. They are equivalent to some talented players in the Astros minor league system who get called up late in the year and show some flashes but overall don't do all that much and don't put up very good stats. Does this mean they will necessarily succeed in the majors as starters? Of course not. It's the same thing with D-Mo and Jones. Did either exceed expectations based on reading pre-draft scouting reports prior to playing? Nope. In fact, I was kinda disappointed with both overall. I think we would have seen something more out of them last year if they were going to be our answer at PF. I just don't understand why people don't get the concept that all young NBA players have potential or else they wouldn't be in the NBA. Does anyone outside of Houston think that D-Mo or Jones can be solid starters this year? I highly doubt it. Now Im not saying that they can never be starters but they need to do a whole lot more than what we saw last year to be at that level. I just don't see it happening this season. I'm sure some fans of every team have a "D-Mo or Jones" (ie. young guy with potential who nobody outside of their city has even heard about, but that they think can be a starter and in some cases an all star) but this is just not realistic people. We need a proven NBA starting PF (namely Al Harrington) and then whoever is showing McHale more between D-Mo and Jones can get minutes off the bench.

You don't sleep on Jones or he'll wake you up by yelling at you and kicking you.

 

Parsons has a legit shot at starting at PF imo if Casspi & Williams / Convington show they can handle back-up SG and SF position because then Garcia would start at SF.

 

How is Camby even an option? He will get backup mins at C... Sparingly at best!!!
