Boy, was that a go out on a limb statement considering that Howard is 28 and the best center of this generation of NBA players and Randolf is ? among last years power forwards. Does he make the top 3?
Dude...the grizzlies have like no offense. They are super easy to shut down. Last season the grizzlies were really effective at shutting Harden down, but what would you expect from a good defensive team against one with one Star player? This season is a whole different story. I actually believed in the Grizzlies last playoffs, but the Spurs exposed them really well.
Well I assume that being on this site that you are already aware of the fact that Westbrook is coming off a major injury (the first in his entire playing career) and the Thunder lost Kevin Martin for nothing. Also, San Antonio is a year older and despite how great last season was, Father time eventually catches everyone. Also, the Grizz have already upgraded their bench by trading for the starting center of the 57 win Denver Nuggets to BACK UP the DPOY. Which means both of our backup bigs posted PERs of 17.2 last season at the age of 23. Which would give either one of them the 2nd highest PER on the Rockets team behind James Harden and not to far off of the 19.4 your prized FA acquisition posted last season. Is that more reasonable? Now give me your reasoning for saying the Rockets will be better than Memphis this upcoming season...
That is a really bad rationale. By that token, compare the wins of the spurs and the Grizzlies. Are the two teams any where close to the same level? The Spurs shamed the Grizzlies with what looked like minimal effort. They are aging faster than the iphones buy every year, yet they managed to shut the Grizzlies completely down on offense and defense. I like the players there, Marc is one of the my fav players in the league and the Grizzlies play great defense, But you can't rely on knuckleheads like Zach Randolf and other role players like Tony Allen to come through and win games.
Also to MemphisX's point, the Grizzlies coming out of the West is a completely ok statement to make. They made it to the WCF (even though it wasn't really a series), so based on last season alone and the fact he is a Grizzlies fan whats so wrong about that? what on the other hand just baits posters by saying some of the stupidest things ever. By considering Gay to be Durant's level at any point in time has to be the axe to any basketball analysis.
I would guess that it is more likely that Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Mike Miller, Bayless and Pondexter for another year, will improve their offense before the rockets with Dwight, Lin Asik and Harden will improve their playoff seeding. Oh, but the grizzlies automatically get dismissed because they don't have a "superstar." Because the criteria to be a superstar is scoring ability, right?
Exactly, the Rockets haven't proved anything yet. By potential alone they can be considered better, but we haven't even seen them play a game as a new team just yet. Homers need to calm down.
So am I to assume both what and MemphisX are taking the bet so they can help out the site without spending a dime?
I don't believe in that nonsense about a "superstar." Its about having players that can play both sides of the floor really well and mesh together. Its stupid pointing it out since your arguments lack logical ssense, but you can't make an argument by saying blah will do blah before bluhh will do bluhh if they aren't comparable. "Improving offense before improving playoff seeding" doesn't make sense since seeding is entirely dependent on offense and defense. Out of all the players you posted Gasol is good and Conley is meh right now. Also, what leads you to believe Prince will "improve his offense" so much when his years in the league have provided enough proof? He's not some young draft pick. The Grizzlies need an Irving or Lillard type of player right now. If they have that, tbh I'll pick them to win the west and maybe the title. But as is, OKC with westbrook back and the other teams will pick them apart. You also have to realize that the Warriors, Clipps, and Rockets all got better, and I guess OKC too since Memphis played a fluke series without Westbrook last year.
+ Randolph is like the biggest mental midget on the entire Grizzlies squad. Dwight has some issues too, but his size and talent trumps randolph's.
I suppose if Memphis' opponents have key injuries in the WCF to go with the first and 2nd round injuries like they had this year they have a chance of coming out of the west.
What's the point of this kind of thread? It's like two drunk guys in the bar talking smack against each other's team.
the grizzlies got mike conley and marc gasol for your team is paying dwight howard. i call that geting swindled and pimped.
Have you settled on the new team you'll be following? Because the Raptors now have Rudy Gay AND Tyler Hansbrough.
Can't believe the amount of rockets smack talk. I am going to take a wait and see approach. The Tmac Yao teams should have at least got to the WCF once.
