First of all I am not african american. I understand what he says is socially unacceptable. For sure. Here's my question:

If this word is so unacceptbale.... then why is it ok for 2 fellow black guys to call each other this?

Also, if an african american player was to say say, " Hey i'd kick all those rednecks asses" would he get the same treatment cooper is getting at this time?

Should Cooper lose his job over this because it looks like its headed in that direction....

The reason many people found it to be so offensive is because of the context. He talked about fighting the n words, I'm sure if a black player yelled that he was going to fight all the crackers over there, he would receive similar treatment.

Of course if a black player said the reverse it would not be as big of deal.

Personally I think the bigger issue is his wardrobe. You can take the man out of Florida but not the Florida out of the man. Jorts4Life

He's done. This is a huge distraction for the Eagles locker room. I'm sure Chip Kelly will do fine without him.

Yes it is a bigger deal because he's white. But if I was Goodell I'd fine and/or suspend him 1 game then state that any player, black or white, caught on film saying that word will be subject to the same punishment.

I'd make it 2 quarters for the 1st offense and 1 game for the second. I'd concede the n-word is currently culturally acceptable on the field amongst blacks (it is said), and go with 2 quarters because a lot of slips will happen since the word is used so commonly, but take the stance that the NFL wont stand for it in any form, especially not on the field in a professional environment.

Someone doesn't know what context means.

Yeah, he definitely should not lose his job over it considering their starting QB killed dogs and is an ex-con.

    <--------Not Black

It is completely different for a white man to say it to a black man than it is for a black man to say it to a black man. The difference is hate.

When white people used the word for decades it was a word born out of hate. When they use it today it is born out of hate. The only white people who WANT to use it are the ones who have hatred or disgust directed at black people. These are the people you'll hear say something like "What do you expect, that's just a ni**** being a ni****."

Black people saying it to each other are not saying it with the racial hatred that backs it when a white person says it. They co-opted the word and have depowered it amongst themselves.

Lastly, there aren't too many cases of black society telling all the crackers to use a different water fountain, sit at the back of the bus, use different textbooks. There aren't many banks that had a policy of not giving crackers a home loan. There aren't many sheriffs that gave a good belly laugh while they turned the dogs loose on some crackers. And there aren't many black mobs that went out looking for a cracker to lynch.

I personally think it is a mistake for black rappers to use the word, but I think it's silly for my fellow white man to act like somehow we should be able to say it. I've never met a person that wasn't racist that wanted the freedom to use the word.

Now, specifically about Riley Cooper, I agree with something I heard on the radio. When you are drunk and/or angry you say things that don't represent who you are because you are trying to deal as much hurt as you can. There are plenty of people who have called their mother a bi*** when they don't feel that way just because they were mad.

    1. black people don't call each other n-words with the ER.

the word some of them use is complexity different and used in a completely different context that what riley cooper said.

    2. riley cooper is a mediocre player who at this point is nothing but a distraction. why would they keep a mediocre player around who is a distraction?'

TO and Ocho Cinco were better players than riley cooper who are not on teams anymore for being distractions.

Re. Redneck- does it have the same connotation as the word Riley Cooper used? Alrighty then.

Re. Why it is ok for 2 others of color to say that and not a white person. Do you also get upset that women can call each other b**ches and if you say that to a woman she gets angry? Do you also get upset that homosexual males can call each other "Q*eers" or "Queens" or "F*gs" if they want to and you(or the non-homosexual population) can't?

I'm sorry life isn't fair but if women want to call themselves that or gay males or females want to call themselves that, it still doesn't make it acceptable for you or anyone desiring to use those words to call them that. Same in this situation with regard to N****r.

Blacks should lead by example then .... how many people truly know the history, meaning and hatred behind a word?... no. they just hear their friends use these words and therefore it is thrown into their own vocabulary.... kids at age 5 know this word and use it before they know what it truly means....if blacks dont want people using this word, they should lead by example and stop using it. there shouldnt be a double standard used on the same word.

but black people don't use the word that riley cooper used. if he used that word then it would be a different conversation but he didn't.

the word riley cooper used was used WELL BEFORE black people modified it and will continually be used by racist even if black people stop using the modified word.
