You are not a Rockets fan, you are a bandwagon fan that has jumped from Chicago, Washington, Houston, Boston and back to Houston.

Its fine if you are a fan of Lin as long as Lin fans remember this is a first and foremost ROCKETS forum. If you aren't in line with that, we don't want you here polluting our air. Lin is just another player on the team to us and for most of us, nothing special at all. Now while he IS a Rockets player, we will generally want to see him do well as that typically translates to success for Rockets.

I have been a Rockets fan from day 1 of my life. my earliest memories is getting those phonebooks with the Rockets championships on the cover. From watching Hakeeem dominate, to seeing Yao pair up with Franchise, Mobley, and Griffin, then seeing the T mac era and hoping that Head, Spanoulis, or Swift would carry us over the top. 2009 was by far in my mind the closest thing we had to winning a 3rd ship. I've been here through the inconsistency of having a new starting PG for the last 5 or 6 years. If Lin is here or not I wouldn't be phased one bit. I am a Die Hard Rockets fan first and foremost.

If the Rockets consisted of (heaven forbid of course) AK47, Carlos Boozer, Matt Harpring, Derek Fisher, Matt Barnes, Mehmet Okur, and a bunch of scrubs, I would probably still watch their games. (That is a tough one though).

Im from NY and was a Harvard Crimsons,Golden State Warriors fan,Reno BigHorns, Houston Rockets, NY Knicks and now back to the Rockets. I still like all the teams before the Rockets but i have never watched another game just to watch the team because i like them. If i were to watch any team this year as a fan, probably the NY Nets and Boston and Miami. But the Rockets are actually a very exciting team with or without Lin this year. Not the K Mart, Scola mediocrity years but i think I would watch a few Rocket games even if Lin left.

If the purpose of this thread is to determine how many Chinese or Asian fans of the Rockets will cease to be fans of the Rox if JLin is traded, it will fail miserably because the Rockets is already a Chinese favourite before JLin arrived. Yao Ming has brought in lots of Chinese & Asian fans to the Rox, and their loyalty to the Rockets will stick even without Lin because Yao has 8 years to build such loyal following in Asian. Chinese have a warm feeling towards the Rox. It is important though that the Chinese fans perceive the Rockets management showing respect to Lin as a young player. Any attempt to belittle him and putting down his dignity as a player/person will trigger the opposite reaction as they may perceive those actions with a racial tone.

Personally I have been fans of the Rox since the Dream & Glide were with the team. I followed them since their days of Phi Slama Jama at the University of Houston Cougars. The Dream Olajuwon won me as a fan and then Yao solidified it. It will be nice to see Lin play well in Houston but people have to give him time to develop as a young player, instead of hammering him non-stop for every mistake he made and giving him very little credit for what his contributions.

I think this thread was created to stir controversy. People can root for whoever they want, it doesn't directly effect me. Don't be weak-minded, don't let them get in your head and bug you enough to write pointless 3 paragraph posts.
