In Hornacek's day the Suns were averaging over 110 I think. Back then usually all 12 players could score, now you have so many "athletes" that aren't necessarily scorers.

Paul Westhead wanted his Nuggets team to score a lot too. Look what happened to them.

I'm not even sure what the lineup of this team is right now,

    Dragic
    Shannon Brown
    Supa Beaz
    C. Frye
    Alex Len

with the Morris twins coming off the bench? I think 93 points a game sounds ambitious.

i'm not sure coaching towards a given point total is the hallmark of great coaching.

really it was mostly just that the pace was much faster 20 years ago.

wow, i haven't paid much attention to their roster recently (or really all of last year). is that plus bledsoe what they are down to at this point? for that to score 103, the other team would have to score 113 or so given all of the possessions it would require.

Westhead's "they system" was basically a strategy to run the opponent to submission. It never worked in the pro level because pro teams were much better conditioned and had more depth.

In recent years, the Suns with Nash, Amare, Marion, and Joe Johnson came close to a high scoring offensive Juggernaut that could have gone deep into the playoffs.

They'll need to since everyone else will be scoring 110+ against them.

Score 103, give up 110. Only number that matters is WINS, not offensive production.

Your sorta gotta have scorers on your team to score 103 a game, they have none. You'll score 103 a game, but gives up 120.

Frankly, everything about this comment is genius. This will increase the player's values, spark some interest from the fans (they will try anything to get people to come to the games... even guarantee that they will have fun), and make the players WANT to play. Players like to score. I don't think Jeff wants to win this season, but at least scoring a lot of points accomplishes a bunch more than just being the crappy Bobcats for years and years.

Kind of, yes. We were able to win while doing it. Suns will not win anything other than maybe the Wiggins sweepstakes, which is not bad.
