First of all, my comment was an aside and not the main reason I would oppose such a thing. Second, screwing with the migration patterns of fauna (and possibly flora) would definitely be a consequence of a border wall/fence regardless of the perceived benefit. Third, while there are indeed many miles of fence in the US, not many look like that which is/would be on the border. There is a difference between this:

Hopefully we can get some cheap labor from Mexico to build the fence.

Why build a fence when you can stop the problem at the source? Make e-verify law and punish employers who use illegal labor. If people don't have jobs, they won't risk their lives to come here.

Problem is we need illegal workers. We just don't like it when they try to better their lives.

    Dude owns!

As much as I would like him to stay in the Senate, He may do so well in primary debates if he runs that he will win the nomination.

I certainly hope that does not happen. Cruz would stand no chance in a general election.

I can only hope he wins the nomination. That would be a Christmas present for Democrats.

    Run Teddy Run!

Senior Republicans are deriding the plan as “dumb,” “silly” and a “temper tantrum,” warning that it will fail and damage the party’s prospects in the upcoming 2014 elections.

"It’s dishonest,” conservative Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) told the Washington Examiner, dismissing the plan as “a denial of reality mixed with a whole bunch of hype.”

Conservatives Concede Defeat In Obamacare Shutdown Fight

Multiple conservatives leading the charge to shut down the government if Obamacare isn’t defunded have begun to admit it’s a lost cause as senior Republicans put the kibosh on the plan.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) lamented Monday afternoon that Republicans are too “scared” to follow through with the plan to withhold support for funding the government after the Sept. 30 deadline unless Obamacare is defunded.

These must be the morals Dr. tallanvor speaks of

    Making quite a stir recently!

Let's just refuse to increase the debt ceiling at the sake of ruining our credit. Glad to see that serious republicans have pushed him aside. Surely a few lemmings will follow, but no one worth while.

All he is doing is damaging the republican party.

If true, this is a stupid move for the Republicans. It's a high stakes game of "I'm gonna take my ball and go home." If they defund the government, the markets will tank and the resulting economic fallout will make 2008 look like a Disney short.

Ted Cruz is possibly the least likable politician on a national stage since Phil Gramm or Jerry Brown. The guy is just not a very likable guy.

I can't stand this guy. He's annoying and his face just makes me want to punch it. Latinos see passed the last name and know he is just another poisoned republican.

    What are you talking about?

Ted Cruz is the best and brightest of the Republican party today.

    He has too run.

The reason the liberals don't like him is because they cannot refute his points. That's typically what people do when they cannot win an argument -- they resort to insults. Which is the case here.

So you think shutting down government because they can't repeal ACA is a good idea?

Don't need to shut anything down, can fund the rest of the government without funding ACA.

Obama is refusing to implement the law, so why should Congress fund it?

If Obama wants to shut down the government over a law he won't implement, that's on him.

GOP gained two Senate seats after the last shutdown and got balanced budgets and welfare reform out of it.
